I like fruit. I like pineapple, strawberries, apples (Fuji, Honey Crisp, and Pink Crisp) cantaloupe, honeydew, grapes, bananas, kiwi, raspberries, boysenberries...and most recently - blueberries!
As a child, blueberries were the one fruit that I loathed. However...about two years ago, some trickery took place. Beef-A-Roo had (and still does have) this yummy fruit & yogurt parfait. The picture looked delicious and I was in need of some sweet nourishment and let's be honest - a break from my highly stressful job.
Soooo I went to Beef-A-Roo and ordered a salad and a parfait and sat outside at their picnic table. Salad - delicious! Parfait - divine. I ordered it a few more times...before realizing that I could probably make this cheaper. Soo I called Beef-A-Roo and asked for the ingredients to which I was informed of the blueberries. I was torn...do I buy the, then thought of, "wretched fruit" or skip it. Would the parfait taste the same?
I opted to buy them. Berries, yogurt, and granola purchased...I mixed up the ingredients and it turned out that I, Angela Dawn, love the fruit that I once despised. Well, loved it in the sense of "I loved it drenched with yogurt and crunchy granola."
Since that time...I now purchase blueberries weekly. I read somewhere that blueberries provide us with a ton of vitamins and are good for our brains.
I should have you know that I am considering going to the blueberry festival in South Haven, Michigan. The last time I went to the blueberry fest was many years ago before I truly appreciated these treasures. Maybe this time, I will actually consume what I pick! We shall see...
