Today I had the opportunity to spend the day with my dear friend and her delightful nine-year old in the Windy City! The delightful, spunky Miss Alisa had to endure an MRI.
Before we left for the trip, I prayed specifically that the Lord would show us His perfect plan for the day. (It's easier to just acknowledge that you don't have any control over what is going to come at you...God knows. God knows you are a capable to handle it. God loves you and won't give you more than you can bear.) Well....let me just say, He had quite a bit of faith in us today...
...took the wrong exit which actually turned out to be a quicker zip-zip-zip down Lakeshore Drive. What a delightful road. Inbetween focusing on the GPS (we totally should've given her a name because I could've said, "Thank you, _______." everytime she told us "Turn left at..." It's just good manners to use please and thank you!)...I noticed the beauty of the leaves. On Lakeshore Drive, there was a middle median that had gorgeous fall-ish leaves. (And well, you know how I feel about fall...right?)
...had to go to a more grown-up building that wasn't kid-friendly. Not bad - just different from what was expected by said nine-year old.
...four i.v. attempts
...an hour break
...fifth attempt SUCCESSFUL!
...Excellent report -- no changes! No growth! Rejoice! Rejoice! Rejoice!
...leaving the city at 3:45 along with every-other person.
...105 minutes to go circa 35 miles. The bumper sticker "Are you kind?" was on a vehicle that was directly in-front of us for a majority of the stop-n-go situation. I was reminded of Ephesians 4:32.
...at 35 miles out of the Windy City, STARBUCKS!!!!!
...after ordering, realized I did not say "Decaf" but remembered soon enough to intercept the beverage! Praise the Lord! I mean really -- it's all fun and games and then you give Angie regular coffee (Starbucks, none the less) at 6:30 p.m.
...last 65-70 miles of the journey, no traffic back-ups, one sleepy patient, and beautiful, encouraging words among friends! God is good. He is good ALL the time.
Be a blessing today!
~ Angie
