This weekend, I had to pay a library fine. I haven't had to pay an overdue book fine since college. FOR REAL -- COLLEGE!!!! Here's what happened...
You see, I don't go to the library very often because when I go, I tend to get carried away and forget that...
A. I work full-time.
B. I have a life (somewhat small) outside of work.
C. I cannot speed read a gazillion words per minute.
I normally carry on this mental conversation with myself as I enter the library... "Angie Good, you do not need to check out a gazillion books. You may select two fiction and one or two non-fiction. You do not need any movies or CDs." And then from the door to the fiction section, the pep talk gets forgotten...and I end up finding several...SEVERAL...books.
I have to limit myself in the knitting section because honesty, I could just take all those books home.
The story about the fine is as such...
I checked out a New Book and I didn't start reading it until 5 days before its due date. I couldn't finish it in time and I was unable to renew it because someone had put a hold on it. Sooooo I weighed the options...
* Skim read to the end and miss out on alot of details
* Return the book and hope to find it online dirt cheap
* Buy it at full price at Barnes and Noble (ummmm...NO THANKS! I don't like paying full price for books.)
* Continue reading it to the end and pay the overdue fine
I chose the last option thus costing me fifty cents. And you know what -- it was well worth it!!!
