A Wednesday without Bible study...What's a girl to do?

Upon learning that our mid-week Bible study was cancelled due to the holidays...I scheduled a coffee outing with a friend.

We ordered 2 decaf fru-fru girly coffees, made small talk with the Barista, procured a table near the window, and conversated until the music stopped playing at 9 p.m.  Three hours...three hours of catching-up...three hours of sharing...three hours of just BEING.  It was wonderful.  It was much needed.  It was without an agenda.  It was delightful.  It was a way for us to connect in a way that is different than via email and via text.  [Every time I write "via email," I think of a former co-worker, affectionately nicknamed "Joey the D" -- he would rant and rave about one thing or the other and then state, "Angie, you can reply via email."  It was funny because he was always standing directly infront of me when he said the email comment.  "Can't I just reply outloud?"  He would dismiss this notion, stating that email was better for him.  What a nut!  I miss him.]

My red, holiday-ish Starbucks cup read:  "When we're together, every day is a snow day."  :)  You do know that I like the red holiday cups.  They are my favorite.  Infact next fall, if you are lucky enough, you might happen to read a blog post all about how much I love the first day of the red cups.  Infact I don't think I am alone in this cup affection as the Starbucks' website often has a notification that the red cups are indeed back.  'Tis a happy day for the girl with curly hair.

While enjoying coffee, we swapped Christmas presents which we firmly declared we were NOT going to do this year.  Seriously -- how can two gift-giving gals not swap presents?  I believe the quote of the evening is going to be awarded to Rhonda who declared, "I just cannot stop buying your red dishes!!!"  Ummmm and I cannot stop embracing the red dishes that you so happily purchase for me.  :)

While holiday shopping, I found a book titled ~ A Jane Austen Devotional by Steffany Woolsey.  And what kind of friend would I be to "let" a friend read a delightful book all by herself...so I purchased a copy for me as well.  This way - we can chit-chat about what we've learned...and if we just so happen to need a fresh pot of coffee while discussing said book, I know a nice girl who resides in a cute, little cottage who will happily brew an entire pot of the beloved beverage for a friend in need.

It's been awhile.

While I was in The JoAnn Fabrics store this afternoon purchasing pre-punched paper for my 2024 garden journal, I said to myself, "Self,...
