Lie #21 ~ "I have to have a husband to be happy."

Taken from Lies Women Believe and The Truth that Sets Them Free, Nancy Leigh DeMoss de-bunks the many lies that we as Bible-reading, Jesus-lovin' women believe.  We are studying this book on Wednesday nights.  I bought the book several years ago so I am enjoying re-reading it.  It's a good reminder.  One of the things Nancy said early on was (Angie-paraphrased), Satan is a liar.  He lies.  It's what he does.  Don't be surprised that he has lied to you!

Soooo we are up to the chapter titled:  Lies Women Believe...about Marriage.  The first of the four lies has been something that I have struggled with AND have also had it asked of me, "How can you be soo happy and BE SINGLE?"  As if being single...
A. is something I would've chosen for myself.
B. is something that I can change about myself.  (To quote Michael J. Fox from the Back to the Future movie from my childhood) Helloooooo McFly!

So, what is the first lie????

Lie #21 ~ "I have to have a husband to be happy."

The Truth:
The Truth is that contentment is not found in having everything we want but in choosing to be satisfied with what God has already provided.


The Truth is that those who insist on having their own way often end up with unnecessary heartache, while those who wait on the Lord always get His best.


And with that last bit o'truth, I will shout "AMEN! AMEN! AMEN!" from the rooftop. Well...not from the rooftop, how about from the inside of the cottage?  Will that suffice?
