Reading...

I am currently reading Little Women.  Page 53 to be exact.  On Friday night, I confessed to Trudy that I have never read Little Women.  She looked at me like I said, "I'm contemplating a career as an acrobat."  I'm not, by the way.  I'm not the kind of girl that likes heights and DANGER!  I like gravity and the fact that it keeps me stuck to the earth.  The thought of swinging back-n-forth while being suspended several (SEV-ER-AL) feet above the ground gives me the heebie jeebies...and let's not forget, one wrong move and down falls the girl with curly hair.  That gravity-thing again.  Gravity always wins.

This afternoon was excellent outdoor reading weather.  I sat in the backyard in the shade with a gentle breeze rustling my curls.  It was amazingly relaxing.  And kudos to my neighbors for keeping their four boys inside until 3 p.m. when I finished my outdoor reading.  :)  Two wonderful hours.

Today's the kind of day when I really miss living in the country.  I mean REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY miss living in the country.  My one neighbor (across the fence...the people who had a fiesta until the wee hours of the morning Friday night/Saturday morning) was listening to obnoxious music.  I believe my least favorite was "Whip It" because I actually heard her singing along with it.  [Is it wrong that I wanted to go and purchase a large gong?]  My other neighbor's children screaming bloody murder.  Sigh.

Some other things I love about the country...
Peace and quiet
Not having people sooo close (kinda falls under the "peace and quiet")
Clotheslines
Wild flowers
A gallon jar full of water and tea bags --> homemade iced tea
Lightning bugs
Fresh from the garden veggies
Bonfires with roasted marshmallows, dark chocolate, & peanut butter

Pretty much I think it boils down to the peace and quiet.  Granted, I do realize that it's not always peace and quiet...but for the most part, living in the country is peaceful, tranquil, and quiet.  (Sigh.)

I really do believe that you can take the girl out of the country but you cannot take the country out of the girl...

It's been awhile.

While I was in The JoAnn Fabrics store this afternoon purchasing pre-punched paper for my 2024 garden journal, I said to myself, "Self,...
