Tea experiment, Bloggable, Birthday Knitting, Recluse Spiders, Labor Day Weekend Plans, and Pumpkin

To un-caffeinate tea bags:  Steep tea bag in boiling water for 30 seconds.  Discard tea.  Re-fill mug with water and place the same tea bag in the fresh water.  Apparently (and confirmed using Google search) caffeine is brewing and transferred to water in the first 30 seconds of steeping…soooo some genius figured out that if you steep it and then discard that the remainder of the brewing process is decaf.  What a genius!!!  I am trying out this experiment today.  Details to follow.

The beauty of not having access to my blog at the cottage is that I am forced to really consider what I want to blog each day.  Normally I just randomly post things throughout the day…NOT anymore.  Now I actually contemplate and think, Is this bloggable?  I’m pretty sure that’s a word.  Bloggable.  My life is bloggable.

I digress.

Today’s quote of the day is:  “Some people touch our lives only briefly…while others leave a lasting impression and are never forgotten.”  ~ Author Unknown

I happily finished Promise Me This yesterday.  I loved, loved, LOVED the ending!!!  What a great book!

I finished my going-over-the-mountains-to-the-Great-Northwest birthday knitting project.  It turned out fabulously purple and delightful!  I’m hoping the recipient thinks likewise.  I, also, picked up a glittery notebook for said b-day girl.  I cannot wait to get the envelope in the mail.

I’m looking forward to this weekend…not necessarily because I have lots of plans because I don’t.   I have dinner with a friend on Friday night, hanging out with 3 boys on Saturday, and lastly church on Sunday.  Nothing extravagant which is what I love!!!  I haven’t had dinner with said friend since May…  And as for the 3 boys on Saturday à  FUN!

Since my CPR/First Aid class last Wednesday, I have seen and squished four brownish, creepyish spiders.  I did not feel compelled to turn over their squished-selves to check for the markings of the recluse spider.  You know what’s weird about this spider…it’s a recluse.  I wonder if it is lacking friends because it’s anti-social?  A recluse?  And in case you are wondering, yes those thoughts really do go through my pretty little head.

Speaking of random things…do you think a guy/gal was walking down the street and just out of the blue thought, Hmmmm…I think words with “ph” should start with the “fffff” sound!  I mean REALLY…who came up with this phonics rule?

I bought my Amtrak ticket to Michigan for Labor Day weekend.  I leave Saturday morning at 7:30 from Union Station…which means I will be on the 4:30 bus to O’Hare and then the Metra train to downtown and then my size 8 feet pederstrianing me to the Amtrak Station.  I am looking forward to spending the long weekend with my brother.  It’s his 35th birthday!!!  I’m staying through Tuesday, September 4th.  I come back on the 8:30 train so he will be able to drop me off before he heads to work.  What a nice brother o’mine.

Now that I am only eating fruit that is in season…last night at Target, I asked Rhonda, “Are strawberries still in season?”  Too which she replied, “Well, if you were in Southern California…”  I followed up her reply with, “Let me re-phrase that….could we go to the farmer’s market in Rockford, IL and buy fresh from the garden strawberries.”  Her final reply, “No.”  All I wanted was confirmation.  Strawberries and raspberries are no longer options.  (Sad!)  Soooo I will be embracing fall-ish produce…apples, squash, pumpkins, etc.  Oh, how I love pumpkin!!!  EK pointed out, “Plain pumpkin is gross but when you mix it in these cupcakes, it’s great!”  I concur!!!

Happy Tuesday!!!

While I was in The JoAnn Fabrics store this afternoon purchasing pre-punched paper for my 2024 garden journal, I said to myself, "Self,...
