This past weekend was quite productive for me. Friday night, I purchased painting supplies and spackled the living room walls. Saturday morning, I arose from my slumber and painted until I ran out of Almond Oil paint. I, then, managed to get myself presentable and ran to Lowe's for another quart. Why is it that I can go to Lowe's 6 times in search of the perfect paint color and each of those 6 times, I don't run in to a single person I know...and then the one time I go there looking merely presentable, I see someone I know??? It's fate.
Where was I? Oh, yes the paint...or lack thereof...
I refused to buy a gallon of Almond Oil colored paint. Do you know if I had a gallon, I could paint the cottage probably twice over...and by the time I would've gotten around for the second round of painting, the gallon would probably be compromised. (Sigh.)
While at Lowe's, I also picked up new switch/outlet plate covers. I bought the unfinished ones and painted them to match the walls. They turned out FABULOUS! Not that I am trying to sound braggy. Do I sound braggy?
Painting complete. I left the windows wide open and headed off to Algonquin to the Leaf Center to see my favorite 12-year old play hockey.
I managed to leave early enough to afford me a quick stop at Caribou Coffee and a run through the Randall Road Goodwill.
Dane did a great job skating and playing. They did not win but that's ok. They looked really good playing. And now I want to go ice skating. Not play hockey. (Insert laughter!) I just have this desire to lace up my figure skates and go ice skating. Any takers? I heard through the grapevine that Carlson Ice Arena has open skating on Friday nights...8 to 10. I wonder if I can convince my brother to go skating next week -- Black Friday and ice skating? Sounds like a great combination if you ask me.
After the hockey game, I went with Dane & his family to Chipotle for supper. YUM!
I managed to get home around 9:30...home to a chilly cottage - as I had left the windows open. Oh well, the paint fumes had dissipated and the cat wasn't lethargic from inhaling said fumes.
Sunday was busy - busy - busy --- but RELAXING! My lazy afternoon was just what I needed...I knitted and read for a bit.
Monday - our Veteran's Day holiday - found me stamping and crafting with my friend Nancy. I made a dozen or so cards...but the real accomplishment was making 40 Christmas gift tags to go out with scarf orders...not that I have to make 40 scarves. :) I only have one more order of 5 to get done...and then knitting for friends and family. The gift tags turned out cute -- I forgot my camera today so you will have to check back.
Oh - speaking of forgetting my camera and not having a computer at the cottage...the lack of computer should end next week when Bry helps me find one on Black Friday. He's been intensely researching them. (I love having a techy brother! It saves me the stress and headache of picking out the wrong one... He's a good guy!)
So there you have it - my loooongish weekend in a nutshell.
Speaking of nutshells, I saw the funniest card. Picture this...a squirrel on the front and he's lying on a black couch at a psychiatrist's office and the squirrel is saying, "Soo I was fine until the other day...and I got to thinking, You are what you eat! That must mean I AM NUTS!!!!!" I stood in Whole Foods laughing outloud...LOUDLY!!!!!!!!
