I don't think there's any possible way for me to effectively title this post...other than to say "LATE NIGHT RAMBLINGS."

I like owls; however, I am sooo not a night owl anymore.  I was formerly a night owl...and then somewhere along the way, I turned into an early-to-bed kind of gal.  I'm not exactly sure when that happened - perhaps when I taught 2nd grade.

Tonight we went Christmas caroling.  It was such a lovely evening for caroling.  We even got to see a snowflake or 2 or 27... :)

After caroling, I needed to go to Woodman's and get groceries.  Normally I do not venture out after evening church; tonight was an exception.  Tomorrow there is a chance of snow - which honestly the snow really is no biggee.  The blizzard-like winds that they are predicting forced me to Woodman's tonight.  You see, I learned my lesson during the last blizzard.  I waited until they sent us home early before going to get groceries.  That was a mistake because.... A) the store was crowded with other procrastinators; B) the slip-n-slide home was worse because I was across town at the grocery store.  I wanted to avoid another situation like that...so I went tonight.

One thing I love about Woodman's - they had Christmas music playing.  Halfway through the shopping trip, I was getting some bulk coffee beans (Morning Blend, my favorite!) and I said outloud, "I'm in a store and I'm SING-ING!"  I randomly quote Buddy the Elf...and my lines from the Christmas cantata.  After quoting Buddy, I meandered down the (to quote Lori) "weird food aisle" - AKA:  the gluten-free/healthy aisle :)...while meandering down said aisle, I saw a yellow sign that read, "Angie's Kettle Corn" and I immediately thought, THE NERVE OF SOME PEOPLE TO USE MY NAME WITHOUT MY PERMISSION!!!!  IDENTITY THEFT IS A REAL CRISIS!!!  It was at this very moment that I knew I needed to get out of the grocery store as soon as possible.  It was just too late for me to be out and I could feel the laughter bubbling up inside of me...  It was soo close to spilling over.

At the check-out, the cashier gave me my total and I said, "OH MY GOODNESS!!!  I WIN!  I CAME IN UNDER BUDGET!"  You know those moments when you are speaking outloud and you realize you are speaking outloud...and then you look at the person/people listening and wonder, What are they thinking?  Yeah, I don't want to know what she was thinking.  She laughed and said, "Congratulations."

And then I drove straight home.  Along the way, the rainy precipitation turned into big, fluffy flakes.  It was soo pretty.  I hauled in my groceries amid the flakes and more laughter...

What a fun Wednesday night!!!

Honestly, it's 11ish and I am really relieved that I got groceries tonight.  Tomorrow night, I can slip-n-slide home and watch some sappy Christmas movie.

Friday is movie night with Lauren!!!!  I'm super excited.  What a wonderful way to end the week!!!

It's been awhile.

While I was in The JoAnn Fabrics store this afternoon purchasing pre-punched paper for my 2024 garden journal, I said to myself, "Self,...
