A little background regarding the Quote of the Day.
Earlier this week, my favorite co-worker offered to buy us coffee for the remainder of the week {i.e. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday} if I would only stop and pick it up. This seems amazing, right? Well...consider this. In order for me to pick-up the coffee, I have to leave the college between 7 and 7:05 a.m. in order to get to Meg's, wait in a line (if there is one), and then drive down Alpine to cut across Harrison to get to work on time. Driving down Alpine always reminds me of playing Frogger with my friend Diane. I think it was circa 1985-1990. I did not have an Atari growing-up but my friend Diane had one. We would have sleepovers and play Frogger. It was a blast. The little frog would have to hop across the road and if he got hit, he would splat and it would be GAME OVER.
While I am discussing this video game, I want to say a HUGE thank you to my parents for not buying us video games. We had board games. And to this very day, I love playing most board games. Well, I should re-word that and say, "I love playing board games with non-competitive people." A little competition is ok but SERIOUSLY...I get so frustrated when people take playing Monopoly as if we are really real estate agents and everything is riding on Park Place. It's a game! Say it with me now, "IT'S A GAME!!!!" Put down the pink and goldenrod colored money. It's fake. Step away from the board. There's no need to slug anyone over the trading of St James Place and St Charles Place.
I. Digress. :)
Back to this quote of the day...
Yesterday I got up early and went to Meg's and picked-up our coffees. It's funny because they don't even ask which one needs the little sticker (to plug up the hole and prevent spills!). They know it's the large soy latte with cinnamon powder steamed in.
Any-who...today is Thursday and it's our normal coffee day.
I am at fault for today's lack of coffee. And shame on me - I did make mention OUTLOUD that I thought I would have time to pick up coffee this morning. Well, I didn't. Here's what happened...I started reading Proverbs and then I went to Psalms...and then I turned to the Gospel of Matthew and started thinking about last night's Bible study...and then it was 7:10 and I didn't have a thing packed for lunch! Danger! Danger!
Not much was mentioned about the lack of coffee...that is until about 3 p.m. I meandered into my favorite co-worker's office and said, "Hey! Tomorrow shouldn't be so rushed so I am thinking about picking up ---" He totally cut me off, "Don't say it. I don't want to get my hopes up and have them crushed again. It hurts, Angie." {It doesn't really hurt. He's fine. He drank free coffee which our place of employment provides all day long! What coffee martyr!}
