I love it when I get a phone call that makes me smile. Too be honest, most of the phone calls I answer are delightful...aside from those random crazies that call and complain. I've found that pouring empathy and putting myself in their shoes really does work. {Shout out to the Terrific Phone Skills Seminar!!!}
Sooo yesterday afternoon my phone rings...
Me: "Engineering. This is Angie."
Caller: "Angie, right?"
Me: "Yes. This is Angie."
Caller: "May I please speak with your boss."
Me: "I believe he is in the office. May I tell him who is calling..."
Caller: "It's Mr. Rogers."
Me, immediately the theme music to Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood starts flitting through my pretty little head: "Please hold, Mr. Rogers."
After 20 seconds...
Me: "Thank you, Mr. Rogers. I believe he's here. I will put you through to him."
I GOT TO TALK TO MR. ROGERS!!!!!! Ok, ok. I know THE Mr. Rogers is in heaven now...but I seriously wanted to ask the guy on the phone, "Mr. Rogers, how are things in your neighborhood?"
