For the third Sunday in a row, I am making apple crisp. If you find this hard believe, please scroll back through the last 15 or so posts and I do believe you will find that you are stalking the blog of girl completely and totally head-over-heels in love with Autumn.
It seems this apple-crisp-making might turn out to be my new tragic Fall flaw. {Try saying that 10 times fast!}
Not only am I making apple crisp today, but I am also baking a 9 x 13 pan of sweet potatoes. When I say it's a pan of them - I mean a heaping pan o'sweet potatoes. I figure - why bake a single layer when I can cut up 6 sweet potatoes and bake a heaping pan of them at 350 for 45 minutes and have a week's worth of yumminess. I mean REALLY...my mother did not raise a fool. She raised a nutcase who totally cracked herself up today....here's what happened:
I was driving down E. State Street heading to the apple orchard via Target. {I had to stop at the red bull's eye and get packing bubbles to mail a melodious instrument to Michigan!} Right before I turned into Target's parking lot, I glanced to my left and what did I see? I don't think you will ever even guess - unless, of course, you follow me on Facebook. I saw a Half-Priced Book Outlet sign. Emphasis on OUTLET!!!! What? I never even knew they had outlet stores. I knew of the H.P.B. stores because my crafty friend Nancy introduced me to the Madison, Wisconsin store. Imagine my joy when I realized I wasn't dreaming - that this sign was for real and it was in Rockford!!!! My second thought was - WAIT? I don't recall seeing sewer plans so perhaps they aren't connected legally. And my third thought (which happened directly after the second) -- wait a minute, I'm not the sewer police!!! :) I don't want to be the sewer police. Speaking of sewer police...Target has Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle kiddie items in their Dollar Bins. I'm thinking that the tins would make fabulous Christmas buckeye candies for my beloved co-workers. Who doesn't love chocolate and peanut butter??? Plus I can make those things gluten-free which will be a DANGEROUS situation.
For 0.3 seconds I felt a little guilty about making ANOTHER pan of apple crisp....hahahahahahaha. I couldn't even type that without laughing. For real -- it's Fall. I'm smitten with Fall. There's no good reason not to make apple crisp. None at all. The end.
