Wednesday. Goodness, this week is flying by...probably because I had Monday off. If I were in-charge, I would institute 4-day work weeks. The first week of the new 4-day work week would afford us Monday off...and the second week would have us all skipping Friday. We could alternate our days off. Or - better yet - we could just have 3-day work weeks...Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. And Wednesdays would still be "Hump Days" so the Geico commercial is still applicable.
Yesterday and today were both busy in a nonsensical-busy sort of way. When I say, "busy" it's never busy-crazy-pull-my-hair-out...that kind of "busy" comes in January and February which is weird because at my former place of employment, January and February were my slow months. When I say "slow months" - I mean, I actually worked 40 hour work weeks which felt like mini-vacations every single week. It was beautiful.
This week has been a hodge-podge of this-n-that. My randomness is at an epic level so I apologize in advance for any posts you may read that cause you to scratch your head and wonder, What has happened to the girl with curly hair? Case in point - at the end of last week, I sent a random email which contained a soapbox rant about people that drive ridiculously through construction zones. I understand that the 45 mile per hour speed limit might seem ridiculous...however, have you ever been standing in a construction zone with only those orange cone devices between you and a moving vehicle? Ummm...I'm thinking NO! I think offenders of construction speed limits should be subject to be human barricades for 30 minutes. Originally I was going to say an hour - but an hour is kind of harsh. Maybe repeat offenders...oh and let's put the repeat offenders in Chicago or New York. Somewhere where they will be subject to extreme traffic conditions.
Anytime I drive through a construction zone, I find myself whispering a quick prayer of protection for the workers. I have heard horror stories from my former co-workers about people not obeying the STOP and SLOW DOWN traffic flagger signs. One former co-worker said he was so mad that he took the sign and actually used it like an old-school gate. He would raise and lower it to let each car pass which I think is pure genius....also dangerous.
Yesterday I was put on extreme secretary duty to find and secure the location of a "missing" file. I put missing in quotation marks because it wasn't truly missing. The searcher of said folder reported to me that he had looked in the file before informing me of the missing status of said folder. When my assignment was dished out, I immediately could hear the Mission Impossible theme inside my head. I, then, went from sweet Angie the secretary to ANGIE GOOD, THE NEW AND IMPROVED NANCY DREW. It was my shining moment. I'm not a huge fan of jumpsuits lest I would've pictured myself as one of Charlie's Angels. When I think of Nancy Drew, I picture argyle socks, nerd girl glasses, and a pleated skirt. Is this accurate? I know not.
A department email was sent inquiring about the whereabouts of the missing file. Literally 3 minutes after I clicked SEND, a co-worker brought me the file. When I inquired as to the whereabouts, he informed me the file was in the file cabinet and on a whim he had walked back there and checked. Nice. I guess I can put away my argyle socks and call it a day!
The lesson learned: Always check the file before sending the email. :)
All-in-all Tuesday and Wednesday were both great days!!!
