Apples

I thought that whole "An apple a day keeps the doctor away" was kind of hokie and maybe just something people in the olden days said to get their children to eat apples.  I mean, what if the poor kid was prone to ailments yet he/she consumed an apple a day which infact did NOT keep the doctor away.  The poor kid crushed his hopes of the apple curing him from routine doctor visits.

Well, it turns out, apples detox our livers.  Did you know this?  I did not.  I've been reading about liver detoxing.  {Exciting stuff!!!}  I've been thinking about doing a liver detox for the past year or two.  Our livers are amazing organs and we taint them with corn syrup (which deposits little toxins in this precious organ!), with caffeine, with medication, etc.

My friend is going to do a detox and I volunteered to detox with her - for moral support.  That's what friends do.  :)

I'm not sure when we will begin our detoxification.  I am super excited about the potential to make my liver happy!!!

It's not a painful process.  The biggest challenge for me will be giving up coffee.  Last week, I mixed 3/4 decaf with 1/4 regular coffee to begin the caffeine-removal.  This is HUGE.  If you know me (& I hope by now you do!), you know that I heart coffee.  I love my morning cup of java...but I think this whole giving it up may very well change my life!  In the past 12 months, I've gone from drinking 2 cups in the morning - 1 at the cottage and 1 at work - to only drinking 1 cup at the cottage.

It's time.

I've not had the heart to tell my favorite co-worker.  Our work relationship kind of revolves around coffee.  Coffee Thursdays.  Coffee talks.  Etc.  I think I might not tell him and during my detox, I will still pick up his Meg's Daily Grind Coffee.  Don't be fooled - yes, I am nice but the real reason I am doing it is because I don't want to listen to his snarky, discouraging comments about doing this detox.  Truth be told and all.  :)

Be a blessing!!!

Sincerely,
The Girl with Curly Hair

It's been awhile.

While I was in The JoAnn Fabrics store this afternoon purchasing pre-punched paper for my 2024 garden journal, I said to myself, "Self,...
