Double pointed knitting needles

I have no idea why in the world I was afraid of double pointed knitting needles.  Probably the fear of the unknown which is ridiculous and over-rated.

Tonight I looked up coffee cozy knitting directions.  {For those of you who do not drink coffee ~ a coffee cozy is the cute sleeve that protects your hands.}  The directions called for double pointed knitting needles and it just so happens that a dear co-worker had shared some of her late aunt's knitting needles with me.  Amongst the stash o'needles were a couple of sets of double pointed ones.  Hip hip hooray!!!

I found some leftover yarn and perused YouTube searching for a good instructional video.  I watched two and it just didn't click...and then I found a third and the gal used simple non-knitting terms and a light came on!!!!!

Here is a picture of the one that actually looks like a coffee cozy.  I did end up taking it off the needles because I dropped a stitch and when I pulled the loose one it kind of unraveled.  Oh well.....  I just get to have extra practice!!!

Wouldn't cowl scarves with a matching coffee cozy make a lovely Christmas present???
