Well....it is Tuesday. I managed to avoid blogging all VD weekend and tonight I am feeling kind of guilty about ignoring you ~ my blog-followers.
I managed to cram alot of fun into VD weekend. I despise VD so filling it with mucho activities was fabulous idea. It still didn't take away the fact that I do miss being one half of a couple...but spending it with people I love did make it more bearable.
First ~ I dreaded going to work on VD. Not just because it was VD but because it was a full moon. If you are not so fortunate to ever have worked with small children and/or the public, you have no idea just how wonky people get when it's a full moon. Not only was it VD and a full moon, we also had a bid opening {It's like a project meeting to determine who wins the project}. Bid openings are busy days for your truly. I have a checklist and have to also keep an engineer focused. It's quite similar to second grade arithmetic and science combined...only my engineer is a big giant. :)
Second ~ At these bid openings, my work pseudo-boyfriends show up. Ok - so once upon a time I liked this guy and I made the mistake of telling one of my man-child-could-be-a-big-second-grader co-workers. For years, he has thoroughly enjoyed harassing me about this particular work crush. What makes it worse is this engineer gets two other guys confused with the first work crush so pretty much - if any of the 3 guys shows up at work, my engineer declares, "Nate's here!!" And my heart goes pitter-patter even though I don't really know if it's Nate #1 or Nate #2 or Nate #3. Last week my co-worker cried "Nate" and it wasn't even one of the three. He unnecessarily made my heart go pitter-patter which is just rude. Moral of the story: Don't cry Nate!
It turned out that not a single work bf could make it said bid opening. What a waste of a great hair day and a super-cute outfit.
Third ~ After work, I picked-up my friend Ruthie and we headed to Jason's Deli. Pretty sure it's my new favorite restaurant. We enjoyed a you-pick-two-meal. Soup and sandwiches for both of us....and we gabbed for a couple hours, swapping stories, and eating chocolate soft-serve ice cream before heading to Barnes and Noble.
Barnes and Noble concluded our evening. I delivered my date home and headed to my lovely apartment.
Saturday began with laundry and cleaning.... At 12 'noon I ventured out to do some Christmas shopping. Yes, you read that correctly. My friend Rhonda and I decided to exchange Christmas presents on VD. I must admit - that was genius!!!
At 1:30 I met Stephanie for pedicures at Phoenix Salon. I don't usually pay the big bucks for a pedicure in the winter because....
A. No one sees my toes in the winter. Well, technically, I see MY toes...but you know what I mean.
B. You don't wear open-toed shoes in the winter. It's kinda like A but different.
I thought Stephanie's suggestion for VD pedicures was GENIUS!!! Why not get pampered on the lamest weekend of the year!!! :)
Teal. I had the girl paint my toes teal. For real - teal!!! Nearly every time I think about teal, the line from the chick flick "The Wedding Planner" comes to mind: "She picked teal. The color of gangrene."
After we covered a myriad of topics and our toes were dry, we went to Goodwill. From Goodwill to Red Mango...and from there to our final destination: the red bull's eye.
What a fun day-after-VD sort of Saturday.
Sunday after church, I had lunch with Rhonda. We enjoyed a major gab-fest. We swapped Christmas presents and enjoyed double dessert. Life is short. Jason's Deli serves (you had better sit down) gluten-free chocolate mousse. And YES - I did go to Jason's Deli twice over the weekend.
Choir and evening church rounded out my Sunday.
Monday was Presidents day...which just so happens to be a glorious government holiday. {My fave!!!!} I put on a pot of coffee...a 12-cupper. I made gf pumpkin muffins. I threw ingredients into the crockpot for chicken tortilla soup. I pulled out stamp pads and cardstock in anticipation of Kathy's arrival for our stamp-the-day-away holiday. {Scroll down for pics!!!}
6 hours later....78 cards were made....much laughter....much heartfelt sharing....
I am blessed with one of the sweetest co-workers. Her presence was such an encouragement and it really did bless my heart!!!
In between making cards, we watched it snow and snow and snow some more. 5 inches fell. And even though it snowed, it was actually "warm" out. After Kathy left, I bundled-up and went to the gym for a cardio only work-out....and then I felt guilty for neglecting my abs so I managed to do the twisters to appease my ab-guilt.
After the gym, soup leftovers for supper and a quiet evening.
And here it is Tuesday....
The beauty of a Monday holiday is that after you work one day (Tuesday), the next day is Wednesday...and the day after tomorrow is Thursday and the next is Friday. Bam! It's the weekend. And this weekend is the last full weekend of February which means we are super-close to March and spring and flip-flops!!!
