My GALentine's Day - which was Friday, February 13th - was filled with work and then surprise birthday shenanigans for Ruthie. It's tough keeping this a secret because we had Knit Wits on Thursday evening so we kinda talked about everything BUT birthday related topics...and then I had to come up with some ridiculous reason to get her to Trudy's. My original plan was to say Trudy needed to borrow my blender...but the more I thought about it, the more I realized me carrying a red blender would make me laugh so I nixed that and said that we "had" to drop off my jumper cables to Trudy...which then turned in to me asking Ruthie if she knew how to hook them up...Oh dear. I ended up telling her that we could watch a YouTube video. I'm sure if push really came to shove, I could hook them up properly because A) I would never want to hurt Rosie (my Corolla) or B) I don't want to perish. Which brings me to - would there really be an explosion or a fire if those clampy things were not hooked up properly? I just don't know...and it scares me. I'd hope that if I needed to hook them up that some gentleman would come along and want to help a damsel in distress. No, I've not been reading Pride and Prejudice this year...why do you ask???
I met my friend Stephanie and her two delightful daughters for some morning thrifting where I found a gray dress. Let me say that again -- I FOUND (FINALLY!!!!) A GRAY DRESS!!!!!! It's not really winter-ish which is what I was hoping for...but with the properly tights and boots and thick sweater, I'm thinking it will suffice for a winter dress.
After thrifting, the girls rode with me to Beef-A-Roo where we partook in some divine nourishment. Beef-A-Roo is now divine nourishment...not really...but the company was heaven-sent and just what I needed. We gabbed about this, that and the other!!!! On the way to Beef-A-Roo, the girls and I sang along with the Frozen soundtrack. "Do you wanna build a snowman?" and "Love is an open door"...goodtimes.
After we parted ways, I had a date...with the gym. Jim. Gym. :)
After the gym, I ran a couple errands...all the while contemplating buying a Keurig. A part of me feels like that would be hurtful to my Mr. Coffee relationship. I mean, the teal guy brews lovely coffee so why get a Keurig? However...I wistfully remember my dog- / house-sitting days in "the valley" - Cherry Valley - when I would wake-up and enjoy Keurig-brewed coffee. {Sigh.} Happy times. Maybe it was the dogs...well, and that one time, the fish...before he perished. I still cannot believe that fish can over-eat thus sending them to a watery grave. Gluttony. Let this be a lesson for the children - gluttony kills.
The remainder of my afternoon has been spent laughing at old seasons of show that cracks me up. It's based on a governmental office. If you know where I work, then you know why this is soo funny.
And now...it's a quarter to 5 and I have a double date. My friend Ruthie and I are going to Jason's...Jason's Deli. Where we intend to consume chocolate soft serve ice cream as an appetizer and then our meal and then more ice cream for dessert. Oh and Ruthie asked if we could hit Starbucks. Sounds like a wonderful GALentine's Day evening if you ask me. We may end the night with some sappy Hallmark movie. Not really sure what other shenanigans will happen but I know it will be a blast!!!!
Sooooo Happy VD!!!
The holiday not the disease. :)
