We looked at something soooooo cool last night in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke. I never even noticed this before...
In
Christ's genealogies - In Matthew 1:16, it shows how Jesus was born of a
virgin and Luke 2:23 emphasizes that He was He was born the (step-) son
of Joseph whose genealogy lists back to Adam. John doesn't list a
genealogy b/c his emphasis was Jesus is God - "In the beginning was the
Word..." Mark doesn't even list a genealogy - he delves right in to
Jesus' earthly ministry!
Matthew 1:16 - And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
Luke 2:23 - And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli,
I had never noticed the (as was supposed) in Luke. Did you ever notice that? When my pastor read that verse, I thought to myself, Has that always been there? Clearly it has. I just never noticed it. Thus the beautiful gift of Wednesday night Bible study.
