So long 2016...

I am so ready for a new year!

"Why?" you ask.

Because 2016 has been the year of my glutening.

Let's take a stroll down the sad as in I was morose, constipated, bloated, migraine-ish, brain fogged...  The gluten-filled year of my life...

January through August - there was my laundrysoap with a new and "improved" (she said mockingly) wheat additive.  Thanks for not telling the general public.

While that was going on...

In March, I used an Amazon search of "gluten-free vitamin B complex."  Amazon found me a B-complex with gluten.  I didn't check the 1st bottle when it arrived.  Naively, I trusted the Amazon search field.  Three bottles later...which was around August when every bit of my sanity had been tested and I spent 5 days with a migraine, I read the vitamin bottle.  I, then, threw the rest of the bottle into the trash.

August - discovered new handsoap at work with the first 5 ingredients containing gluten.  Also discovered that my coconut oil was produced on a line with wheat germ.

October - bought gluten-free labeled chapstick.  Discovered after 7 days of wearing it that it's not.

November - ate 2....ummm...ok, ate 4 bags of Bob's Peppermint Puffy candies.  The bag says "gluten-free."  Space cadet symptoms ensued.  Googled "is Bob's Peppermint Puffy candy really gluten-free?"  Guess what?  The answer is a BIG, FAT NOPE.  They have 200 parts of gluten to every 200,000,000 of non-gluten.  Sounds like they contain gluten.  Nicely done, Bob's.  *sarcasm noted*

Starting in 2017, I am buying (of course after I RE-RESEARCH those products) formerly loved and tried and true products.  Like my lip gloss, for example.  I am returning to the Philosophy brand.  They have 3 or 4 items that do contain gluten but the gluten-free list is amazing.

I am done.  I have reverted back to my paranoid about gluten-self.  It is not even that I have all the aforementioned symptoms, it's that my insides are being damaged with every spec of gluten.  I am so done.

It's been awhile.

While I was in The JoAnn Fabrics store this afternoon purchasing pre-punched paper for my 2024 garden journal, I said to myself, "Self,...
