Isn't the word "weekend" the loveliest word. The week has ended!!!! The work week has ended!!!! All is well and now the non-working part of my beautiful life can begin.
Friday night - after wrapping-up some loose ends at the office, I enjoyed a game night with dear friends. Aidan's family + the Delaney crew and throw in Fun Angie and a deck of UNO cards = GOODTIMES!!!!!
Hours of draw 2's and draw 4's and reverse and skips and Aidan's mom telling Aidan's dad "Draw four is fightin' words!" All of that plus laughter!!!!! Copious amounts of laughter.
Not only did we laugh and gab but we shared burdens. Aidan has to have surgery. Two surgeries. Both are risky. Both are now necessary. Both are prayer requests.
Saturday's plans began to formulate late Friday evening when I received a "Wanna go to Fontana Beach at Lake Geneva?" text. Ummmmmm...YES!!!!!!!!!
A magazine (which was a fabulous $5 splurge) + bottle of water + a snack added to my already packed beach bag. A girl should be prepared. I feel like June through August, it would behoove me to keep a prepared beach bag...for emergency beach outings and whatnot.
The thing about going to beach with a friend is it makes it all the more lovely. The downside is I forgot to apply and reapply proper SPF 30. We got to talking and laughing and someone (ME!!!!) forgot to apply the proper amount of sunscreen. Daaaaanger!!!!! Also it's weird-danger because my pinkish skin is splotchy on my shoulders. That's nice.
The Lord blessed us with beautiful weather and safety to and from the lake.
After changing out of my beach clothes, I decided to catch a quick nap before heading to Lori's to watch the new Christmas in July Hallmark movie. And by "watch" I suppose I should confess that we gabbed through most of it. We can always rewatch it in November.
The movie ended and I pretty much headed out to O'Hare to pick-up the returning VBS missions team.
Turns out if you follow the "trucks only parking" sign at the Des Plaines Oasis, you will be routed behind the building where it's not so very well lit. It's ok because if you put on your 4-way flashers, you can drive the several feet the wrong way at 12:15 in the morning because the entrance is not very busy.
I was dropped off at my place of dwelling at 2:30 a.m. It took me some time to unwind from that trip. Not sure why it took longer than the trip when I took them in to O'Hare at 2:15 a.m. I am asusming that my non-unwinding of last night was because we had gabbed the whole way back. When I dropped them off, I laughed most of the way home. Laughing burns calories thus wearing me out.
And this brings me to Sunday. Went to our first church service and then ran a couple errands before coming home to take a 90 minute nap. *sigh* As a child, I never realized how much adult me would like a good nap.
I then did laundry and started my August bookclub book, "The One True Love of Alice-Ann" by Eva Marie Everson.
And now it's Sunday evening and tomorrow is work. Yeah!!! I love restful weekends that make Mondays tolerable.
