Clearance Hacienda Refill

Every year I buy a calendar refill for my Franklin-Covey fabulous red leather Hacienda.  ("Hacienda" is a Joyce-ism for calendar...not the typical Spanish word for house.)  My hacienda and I have been in a relationship since circa 2002.  We were brought together by a one Sara Derrer (Dietz, then).  She convinced me of my need for this relationship and I have not regretted this relationship nor my friendship with the fabulous Sara.

Annually my hacienda is christened with a 1/3 of my travel mug of coffee.  It happens.  I cannot change it.  Try as I might, it has happened for the last 15 hacienda refills and as sure as I'm wearing red flannel jammies, it will happen in 2018.  When?  Only time will tell.

This year, imagine my surprise when I found a blank hacienda refill on clearance for just $4.29.  The refill is typically $12-$15.

I thought I had struck gold!

Who does not love saving money?

I enjoy it.

Soooo I paid the four dollars and whatever-cents for the clearance hacienda refill.

As I began filling in dates on my clearance hacienda something was amok...dates on my wall calendar were not lining-up with the refill.  It took me a couple minutes to figure out that on the clearance refill weeks, the days began with Monday. On the non-clearance hacienda refill weeks, the weeks began with Sunday.  Hmmm...  Could I live with this?  I himmed and hawed and decided that I could.  I could live with this because if I couldn't, it would mean I would need to buy a 2nd hacienda refill at the regular price and throw away the already opened and marked-up through January clearance refill.

Fast forward about 3 weeks to the eve of New Year's Eve...I was going through my clearance hacienda marking stuff up and you know what - I can't do it.  I can't handle planner weeks that do not begin on Sunday.  In my brain, a new week starts on Sunday...and I like my brain and my hacienda to line-up.  (So often they don't, thus the reason why I NEED A HACIENDA!!!!!)

That very night - the eve of New Year's Eve - I logged in to The Amazon.  I added my normal non-clearance hacienda to my cart and faster than you can even say, "Check-out" I was buying the correct hacienda refill.

I'm looking forward to receiving an Amazon notification on Wednesday that says my package has been delivered because I can then rip the clearance refill out of my hacienda and I can replace it with all that is good and right in the world of planning.

Oh - and Sara, thankfully I have not used any of those FABULOUS hacienda stickers on the clearance refill pages.  Maybe deep down I knew that the clearance refill would go to the big office supply store in the sky and that eventually I, Angie Good, would go back to a weekly hacienda that began on Sundays.  I'm not sure...but know this, I CANNOT WAIT FOR MY NEW HACIENDA REFILL AND THE USE OF THOSE FABULOUS STICKERS!!!!!!!

It's been awhile.

While I was in The JoAnn Fabrics store this afternoon purchasing pre-punched paper for my 2024 garden journal, I said to myself, "Self,...
