I was thinking about a book from my childhood today. I believe the name of it is County Mouse & City Mouse. If I am remembering correctly, these two mice are friends and they decide to visit each other. (The duration of their visit is not clearly etched in my brain...maybe a weekend or a week.) They soon discover that although each is envious of the other's living arrangements, they are both well-suited for where they live. They realize that although they like visiting -- they miss their homes. You know what...when I was in Hudson, I really did not miss the hustle-bustle of Rockford. I didn't miss the insane traffic or the noise of the city. I'm actually rather fond of the country. Driving down a two lane road...going 55...not having to dodge other drivers or crazies on bicycles...it was nice. Looking at tree after tree...farm after farm...also nice.
I think it's true what they say...You can take the girl outta the country, but you cannot take the country outta the girl!
