5

1. Study Bible which contains excerpts by Charles Stanley
2. Lies Young Women Believe, by Nancy Leigh DeMoss
3. Always A Baker, Never A Bride, by Sandra D. Bricker
4. Summer Breeze, Catherine Palmer & Gary Chapman
5. Clean, by Alejandro Junger, M.D.

These are the five books which I am currently reading.  Those of you who know me are probably amazed!  Well, you should be!  Aside from my Bible, I normally only read one book at a time.  Infact I have been this way for quite some time...actually it started in the 3rd grade.  I remember Mrs. Saunders reading, Strawberry Girl and I kept thinking, I should read something at home for the fun of it.  Well - the ENTIRE time I was reading at home, I kept thinking about the characters in Strawberry Girl and I would compare them and such...it wasn't good.

Why am I currently reading 5 books?  Well....I like to read my Bible in the morning while I drink a cup of coffee and enjoy a bowl of oatmeal.  It's a great way to start the day!!!

The second book on my list...  Ginger K is currently doing this book as a study with our teens at church.  She had an extra copy and asked me to read it.  It's a good book, by the way!  I've also read Nancy's other book (and I feel as though I can address Ms. DeMoss as such because I actually got to hear her in Indianapolis this past fall at a life-changing ladies conference!!!)...Nancy's other book, Lies Women Believe!  It you've never read it or heard of it or borrow mine -- GET IT!  GET A COPY TODAY AND READ IT!  It's incredible!

Always A Baker, Never A Bride was a great find at the library!!!  I was perusing the shelves last Saturday.  I'm not the type of girl to wander around and pull books willynilly off the shelves and read the back...but this book stuck out to me.  Perhaps because I seem to be "Always a bridesmaid never a bride"?  :)  Anyway...I'm currently 2/3 of the way through this book and I cannot (literally on some days) put this book down!  This is will be explained later...

The 4th book is by Catherine Palmer and Gary Chapman -- yes, Gary Chapman, the Love Language guy!  I love his books about our love languages...so I was rather delighted when my Mom gave me two books in this series to take home from Georgia.  I read through It Happens Every Spring and ate it up in about a week & a half!

And lastly, Clean.  This book intrigued me because I think Dr. Junger's philosophy is along the lines of the other healthier-eating book I read last spring.  I want to compare the two.  Junger states that we should avoid night-shade vegetables and I cannot wait to hear why.  I mean afterall..my beloved green peppers are night shade vegetables -- so I hope Dr. Junger has excellent supporting evidence because I am not the kind of girl to give up GREEN PEPPERS unless there's something terribly bad about consuming them.

So there you have it...5 books!  Now here's my problem...  You know how in the Bible, Jesus tells the disciples that they cannot serve two masters for they will hate the one and love the other...  This is how I feel about all these books minus my Bible - because I love reading it even when it does step on my toes or convict me.  But these other 4 books...I really am struggling with being so caught up in this Always A Baker book that I don't want to pick up the others.  Infact I lose all track of time and I get soo engrossed in it.  Yesterday, for example, I punched in a minute late from lunch because I wanted to end my reading at the end of the chapter.

I'm so thankful for the ability to read...  I'm thankful for my first grade teacher who taught us phonics and she helped inspire me to fall in love with reading.  I'm thankful for the library and the whole system of checking out items!  I love books!  Forget love -- let me fall into a book!!!!!

It's been awhile.

While I was in The JoAnn Fabrics store this afternoon purchasing pre-punched paper for my 2024 garden journal, I said to myself, "Self,...
