The Christmas Bird

At my place of employment, we have a Christmas tree.  Last Friday, my co-worker and I decked the halls.  Fa la la la la la la la!  It was actually an enjoyable afternoon filled with Christmas lights, decorations, and Frank Sinatra crooning in the background.  (Did you know that Frank was a gangsta?  I'm still having great difficulty processing this bit o'information.)  Any-who...

We pulled out the ornaments and amongst all the pretty gold, red, and green, I found this one-legged goose.  I must confess, it immediately reminded me of a my friend's deceased parakeet, Tweed.  Poor Tweed had the gout and then he ended up having a stroke...and some other health issues which I cannot remember...but he was one sick bird before he fluttered off to be with Jesus in that big bird cage in the sky.  Rest in peace, Tweedster.

Back to the goose...sooo this bird cracked me up.  Infact I removed him/her from the box o'ornaments and clipped it on the front of my file cabinet so as to be reminded of the true spirit of perseverance.  I even wrote a little speech which was heard by my  decorating co-worker...

"This bird represents the true meaning of Christmas.  The perseverance when there was no room at the inn.  Mary and Joseph pushed on to find a manger where the baby Jesus could be born.  Our one-legged friend appears happy despite his/her circumstances.  I sense he/she is thankful for a well-balanced life.  Thankful for friends..."  And it went on and on until we were both hysterically laughing and the bird needed to be hidden.

Sooo there you have it...the Christmas bird.

P.S. The goose, also, got me thinking about the 6th day of Christmas and how my true love is supposed to bring me six geese a-laying.  Not good for several reasons...

A - Although it's a thoughtful gift, I'm not a bird fan.
B - The sentiment is nice...but seriously geese poop (on average) 2 pounds per day...times the six of them.  Grrrrross!!!
C - What if there are three boys and three girls...there will be many more geese in the spring... Danger!  Danger!

This is what I think about...  You know some people just listen to the pretty Christmas music and go about their merry way (MERRY reminds me...Starbuck's Christmas 2012 theme is "Let's Merry!"  Isn't that festive and fabulous???  I love it!) and they don't think about the words...but not me.  I think about the fact that if I married Good King Wencelas that I, Angie Good, would be a Queen!!!!

Would you like to hear something not right about The First Noel?  You know in the first verse where it says, "was to certain poor shepherds in fields where they lay..."  Up until the time I was 25, I could not figure out what "to certain" was?  I thought it was a VERB...  Thankfully while student teaching, someone had a bulletin board up with the baby Jesus in a manger and above it, there was a gift tag that read "To Certain Poor Shepherds"....Thank you 1st grade classroom for explaining to a grown-up what in the world "to certain" meant.  Isn't that not right?  I know...I know...and yet, you come back almost everyday for more Fun Angie-isms...  Thanks, by the way, for stalking my blog.  :)

It's been awhile.

While I was in The JoAnn Fabrics store this afternoon purchasing pre-punched paper for my 2024 garden journal, I said to myself, "Self,...
