Because my brother said, "Sis, have you blogged lately?"

The other day Bryan and I were talking on the phone and he inquired, "Sis, have you blogged lately?"  Sadly the answer was no.  Infact I cannot remember the last time I blogged...probably the beginning of June and today is the 22nd.

My mom stayed with me for 2 weeks.  In the time she was here, we made so many delightful memories...pedicures, supper at Lucha's, trips to Woodmans, garage sales, thrifting, attending a 6-year olds' birthday party, meeting Aidan, etc.

My only regret is that we only took 1 picture together!  ONE!!!!  This from the girls who traveled across the Pond and took 2,100 pictures.  In 16 days in Illinois, we only managed 1 photo.  How crazy is that?!

While my mom was here, we learned my dad had a bit of a accident on the riding lawn mower.  The tractor slipped out of gear while he was driving it down the driveway...and since it was on pavement, it picked up "pretty good speed" (my dad's words).  At the bottom of the driveway, it hit something and threw him off while the tractor continued up the embankment and rolled back where it idly sat.  My parents neighbor witnessed the whole thing and stopped to make sure my father was ok.  My dad hit his good shoulder and his head.  Several hours later, the ER released him with a sling and told him to take some Advil.

Today his orthopedic doctor (who is going to operate on his "good" shoulder next month) ordered an MRI of his tractor-injured shoulder.  This how we refer to them.  "Good shoulder."  "Tractor shoulder."

My sweet choir friend Jeanette had what appears to be a stroke and she may very well be walking with our Heavenly Father soon.  Would you pray for her and her family?  I've been thinking about Heaven alot - with Aidan and now Jeanette.  They have both been on my mind and heart.

Three days ago my mom's best friend's son-in-law age 27 passed away with a massive heart attack.  He leaves behind a sweet wife BreAnne (who I used to babysit), a daughter Ava (age 3) and Will (a 1-month old).  Would you pray for this sweet family and the loss of a husband and dad?

There's just sooo much sad news.  I don't know if this engulfing of sadness is just how it's going to be for the time.  I'm not bemoaning it because I know God is in control... I'm just curious if life is going to have some sad trials for a bit.

Little blessings have been sprinkled throughout the sadness....
1. The changing of the guard in my department at work is a WELCOMED CHANGE!!!  This being the answer to 6 years of prayers.  God is good.  Sooooo very good.

2. On Monday when I had forgotten coffee creamer, my sweet co-worker had brought pumpkin spice creamer so my coffee conundrum was cured.

3. Someone was a huge blessing to Aidan's family!!!  And I got to witness God do a great work in their hearts and lives.

4. Ninja Turtles  + Culver's frozen custard + Audrey = AWESOMENESS

5. Rain tonight.  We desperately need it.

On a side note about the rain...it's going to storm.  Pastor cancelled Bible study tonight.  The key is to be safe and sound.

It's been awhile.

While I was in The JoAnn Fabrics store this afternoon purchasing pre-punched paper for my 2024 garden journal, I said to myself, "Self,...
