I'm going to come right out and confess -- I woke up this morning, threw open the blinds, and was greatly disappointed...RAIN...gray...and drear. In my head (where everything turns out fabulous), I should've walked to the window, threw open the blinds, saw snow fluttering to the ground, Frank Sinatra's melodious voice filling the cottage, an elf appearing at the front door with a warm sugar cookie & steaming cup of cocoa, a sleigh instead of Rosie awaiting to deliver me about on my various errands...and so on and so forth...
Yes, I, Angie Good, am somewhat delusional when it comes to grand and lofty holiday notions. Afterall, I've heard for the past six and thirty years -- "It's the most wonderful time of the year." Thank you, Andy Williams. I do think and believe that it IS the most wonderful time of the year, in case you were/are wondering.
I have errands to run this morning...so perhaps the lack of snow will make venturing across town to get my oil changed and groceries purchased easier.
I'm working on my hospitality skills today. Nancy is coming over this afternoon. We are going to pull out cardstock, ribbon, stamps, ink pads, etc. and get to crafting our Christmas cards. We've already determined that we are not going to watch a movie while we stamp. We have this terrible habit of bringing out all the supplies, starting a movie, and then making three cards. Look - it's December 3rd. 22 days 'til Christmas.
Yesterday I started reading a new book by Janet Folger. Janet and I are going to be new best friends. Here's what she hit me with in chapter 1...
"And although Satan knows that God has everything under control, with an exciting and perfect plan for your life -- with perfect timing (believe it or not) -- he's gonna tell you otherwise. Satan's a liar, after all -- that what he does. And I believe that his favorite targets are those who could very well be the most effective members of God's kingdom: single people. Satan is going to tell you that while God is taking care of everyone else -- including all your friends who are getting married -- He has somehow forgotten about you. It's a lie."
Sometimes I just need a good reminder of this truth...
Happy Saturday!
