From Lysa TerKeurst's FABULOUS book, Made to Crave

In her chapter titled:  Overindulgence, Lysa says it like it is.

"How can we stand and wag our fingers in the direction of alcohol only to walk into the church-wide covered dish buffet and stuff ourselves sick with fried, covered-and-smothered, grossly caloric delights that buckle our paper plates and cause our stomachs to cry for antacids?  Overindulgence is overindulgence.  And limitless indulgence in food always has consequences -- it compromises our health, diminishes energy to pursue our calling, and affects the way we feel about ourselves, just to name a few."  p. 128

This was particularly convicting.  It's a good reminder that sin is sin.  There's not levels of sin...as in, "Oh, I don't murder people so the fact that I overeat ---well, that must be 'ok' in God's eyes since it's not hurting anyone else."  WRONG ANSWER!!!!  Overindulgence is sin and it sent Jesus to the cross.

Help me, Father, to always be mindful of this and not to rationalize my sin.  Amen.
