I love farm fresh eggs.

You can take the girl outta
the country...but you can't take
the country outta the girl!  :)

I grew-up eating farm-fresh eggs.  Back in the day, we were able to get farm-fresh eggs for a dollar a dozen.  That was in Michigan.  In the sticks.  I miss the sticks.

It took me a couple years of living in the big city to figure out the best place to purchase farm-fresh eggs.  There's a small farm just west of Rockford.  The owners are delightful and charming.  Their eggs are wonderful!  The yolks are a healthy yellow-ish/orange-ish color.  The price is affordable.  The farm is located less than 10 miles from the cottage -- not to mention, it's quite a pleasant drive to get to said farm.

Once in a moment of sheer panic, I bought a dozen farm-fresh eggs at the health food store.  YOW-ZERS! The price about sent me over the edge.  I learned my lesson -- budget in the 10 minutes it takes to get out to the farm to get the eggs rather than pay the painful amount in town.

They have some chickens (and too be honest, I had considered researching chickens on Google before putting together this post, but you are going to have to trust me on this) that lay blue-ish tinted eggs.  True story.  I've even gotten green-ish tinted shells.  THE SHELLS ARE BLUE-ISH AND GREEN-ISH -- NOT THE YOLKS!!!!  ICK!  Not that I wouldn't mind trying green eggs and ham...but I will leave that for another blog post.

Tootles!
