This past weekend Bryan came to the Land of Lincoln!!! He arrived Friday evening around 9 p.m. He had smooth-sailing through the Windy City -- which was a huge blessing as the Windy City is not always a gem to maneuver through.
We watched the new Muppets movie. Well, correction -- I watched the new Muppets movie (which I love -- it's just as cheesy as the Muppets from my youth!) while Bryan slept. He was exhausted from working a full day plus the 4-1/2 hour roadtrip to Rockford.
Saturday -- we decided to do something adventurous...head to Madison, Wisconsin for the day! Bry had never been to the fine city.
We trusted in his GPS and it mis-lead us...twice. The first time -- instead of taking us to a fabulous thrift, it lead us astray...well, it was a good thing. We managed to find a Caribou Coffee. (Pitter-patter!)
2 soy Berry White mochas later...we were back on the road and trusting the computer once more...bad idea! The second time, it lead us to a vacant building. We can only assume that the once Goodwill and now vacated was just a sign that we did not need to thrift in Madison.
Oooooh --- I should probably mention that about halfway through our mochas we both realized we forgot to say one important word when ordering our beloved beverages...DECAF! Bry and I uttered a quick prayer...mine went something like, Dear Lord, thank you for the this wonderful coffee..however please forgive me for my stupidity and not saying 'decaf.' Please help this not to keep me up all night long. ~ Amen
And in case I forget to mention -- the Lord did allow the caffeine to not keep me up half-the-night. Yahooo!
After the second being-led-astray, Bry said, "Sis -- I saw a cool Target with an escalator...let's go there. We can get the cable for your computer and birthday cards for Grandpa & Grandma Dee." PERFECT!
Not only did the Madison Target have an escalator...but it also had a Starbucks AND red outdoor patio furniture. I told Leah -- our coffee club could totally meet at this RED BULL'S EYE! Perhaps before Leah ventures off to the land of the Ukraine, perhaps we can take a roadtrip up here and sit outside and partake of our favorite beverage...that and a fruit tart from Whole Foods. (See my birthday posts from turning SIX AND THIRTY last year...)
After our trip to the red bull's eye...we ventured to Whole Foods. Two words: FREE SAMPLES! I heart the free samples at Whole Foods. They had some tasty guacamole and chips out for our enjoyment. Also, fresh pineapple. I sampled (not tasted) blood orange lotion...it smelled exactly like the cheesecake I had with Ginger...fabulous! Bry asked if I was going to eat the lotion...it smelled that good!!!
Once we made our purchases at Whole Foods, Bry asked if we could stop at the Janesville thrift. Ummmm -- is my hair curly!!!??? YES, WE CAN STOP!!!!! What a silly brother I have.
We took the long way through Madison...I wanted Bryan to see the capital building and downtown. What a fun Saturday sort-of adventure. :)
I'm happy to report at the Janesville thrift, I found a pair of Lands End jeans (fit like a glove and were much needed as my favorite pair of jeans are getting kind of ratty!) and a ruffly blouse. I informed Bryan that this blouse plus a cute cardigan with my jeans just might be my favorite Saturday outfit. It's very girly and fru-fru. Bryan found some really nice dress pants and a polo shirt.
We then went to Woodmans (in Janesville) and bought humus and gluten-free crackers -- SUPPER! I love easy suppers.
Upon returning to the cottage, Bryan hooked-up the wireless router which will give me wi-fi throughout the cottage and then he said, "Let's both turn on Google chat and sit and chat online." He thought that was the funniest thing ever...and quite frankly, so did I.
I love my brother!!!
And now, it's Monday...blessed Monday. The high today is only 49. That is a our average temp...however going from 71 yesterday to 49 today is going to be like leaving Rockford for Seattle. Perhaps this cold weather is to make us more thankful for spring when it returns.
Tootles!
