I had to exercise some self-control tonight. You see, after work, I ran to Hobby Lobby to pick up a skein of Yarn Bee Chrysalis in the color of Black Swallowtail. I am working on a fru-fru scarf for my co-worker's birthday coming up at the end of May. She's a huge fan of accessories and she had made SEVERAL comments regarding the floofy scarves I've recently become obsessed with knitting.
While at Hobby Lobby contemplating the color selection, I saw the prettiest yarn. It's called Fritillary. Isn't that a fun word? I'm totally jealous that I did not make it up.
Do you know that I love www.dictionary.com? That website gives you the meanings of words...and they have a Thesaurus tab and a Quote tab. A couple of clicks and you can find a plethora information.
Well...according to www.dictionary.com...
frit·il·lar·y

Any of several orange-brown nymphalid butterflies, usually marked with black lines and dots and with silvery spots on the undersides of the wings

Isn't that FUN?
Back to Hobby Lobby...
The Fritillary skein of yarn is variegated with teal, white, and a coral-ish/orange-ish trifecta of fun! I found a picture of it -- see below!
[And now as I am
staring at the picture,
I see LIME GREEN!!!!!!!]

The first thought that ran through my head...if I buy this skein of yarn and make a scarf for one of my friends, I am totally going to have to buy them the coral colored cardigan & cute sundress I saw on Saturday at the red bull's eye. And then I will need to get the sweater and sundress for me.
(Sigh.)
Do you see my quandary?
Sadly, I opted to purchase one skein of sensible, boring black. I left the Fritillary on the shelf. It will be there next time.
Maybe for the fun of it, I should buy 3 or 4 skeins of Fritillary and knit up some scarves to have on hand. Hmmmmmmmmm...
This might turn in to a similar situation that you find in the book, If You Give A Mouse A Cookie...
The only drawback from purchasing the yarn, the cardigans, and the sundresses would be that we might look a little conspicuous dressed alike....maybe people would wonder if we were in a top secret club...and then they would want in. And where would we hold the meetings if they grew to epic proportion? Who would make the treats for after the meetings?
Decisions, decisions...
