Small town girl

Today I had the beautiful blessing of spending a few hours with my iron-sharpening friend Lori.  She is such a gem.

We ventured to Poplar Grove to check out a new store, Lola Lenora.  It was fabulous.

I found a gray chair for my bedroom.  Just yesterday while trying to dress for work, I was tossing clothes on my bed and telling Celia, "I really need a chair."  Her meow was all the approval I needed.

To be honest - I thought my hunt for the perfect bedroom chair was going to be a long, drawn-out ordeal.

Turns out it was right around 24 hours.

And I couldn't just buy the cute chair without the SMALL TOWN GIRL ♡ pillow, right???

The beauty of the maxi dress is...

....it (the maxi dress) makes it look like I spent alot of time on my appearance - when truth be told, it was like 3 minutes.

Also the maxi dress is the jammies of the workplace.

87 cents

Earlier today I went to Kohl's in search of a t-shirt or top to go with my lemon skirt.  I envisioned something yellow or maybe even a fun shade of green.

What I found (after a solid 45 minutes of searching) was a denim pleated-neck top.

You know how everything at Kohl's is always on sale so you can never just read the tag and know what you are going to pay?  The sign I read said the Lauren Conrad top was going to be $25.  Since I had a $10-off birthday coupon, I figured I would use birthday cash to cover the difference.

When I went up to the checkout, the top rang up at $10.87.  The cashier scanned my coupon while giving me the whole sign-up-for-a-Kohls-credit-card speech claiming I could save 30%.

After said speech, the clerk said, "Your total is 87 cents."

I so very badly wish my college roommate was with me because whenever we shop together and save money, she always (ALWAYS!) quotes a sweet Asian gal from our former dorm hall who was having a room sale, "Gooooooood bargain!!!"  Maybe that's one of those you-had-to-be-there moments.  Hmmmm...

Anyway...wanna see the cute top I got for 87 whole cents?  Which I totally did not have 3 quarters, 1 dime, and 2 pennies.  I had to break a bill.

Here's the top...

SURPRISE NAVY SANDALS!!!!

I love Amazon...in that, when I am searching for something or on the fence about making a purchase, I can just add the item to a list for future consideration.  This saves me from making a purchase that I don't want or really don't need.

The last couple of weeks I have been searching for navy sandals.  I want a wedge (or slight wedge) heel.  I don't want fourteen gazillion straps nor bling.  My feet do not need to the blinged.

I found a cute pair of strappy navy sandals and must have placed them in my cart and not on a list.

The other day I checked-out forgetting that I needed to move the navy sandals to my top secret "maybe purchase" list...

Two days later a box was outside my door and to my surprise - it contained those super cute navy sandals.

Now what's a girl to do?  Send the shoes back to the cold, empty shoe warehouse OR keep the shoes here since they are already pretty much at home?  I decided to try them on... *sigh*  They fit and they are comfy.

Now that I've tried them on, we are friends.  The shoes will stay.  What a lovely little surprise.  To me from me - XOXOXO!

Lip Liner: The conclusion

It worked!!!!!!!  The key to sharpening it was refrigerating it before trying to run it through the sharpener!!!!!!

Lip liner

Today I purchased a duo- lip and eye liner sharpener.  Why?  Because my favorite mauve-ish lip liner is in need of sharpening.  I have never had to sharpen it so today is a first for me.

I Googled, "How do you sharpen lip liner?"  According to the Google, I need to refrigerate it for 2 hours to firm it up so it will sharpen easy-peasy.  If you don't have 2 hours, you can freeze it for 20 minutes.

Since it's Saturday night and I am home in my jammies, I have 2 hours so there's that.

I am kind of excited to see how it sharpens.  It is my favorite color!!!!  And I wore it on Friday and received a lot of compliments.

I will let you know how it goes...

Tights conundrum

I just got back from Kmart on my break.  Why did I go to Kmart?  My brown tights (the ones I love) got a hole in them in a visible place.  I hate Wal-Mart.  I really do.  I've tried working through that but I still do not like Wal-Mart.  Today while I was walking through Kmart trying to find their hoseries while my ears were ACCOSTED w/completely inappropriate loud-thumping music (much like what you would expect to hear at the roller rink), I said to myself, "I wish I was at Wal-Mart."  It should be noted I NEVER EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER wish to be at Wal-Mart...that is until today when I was searching for tights.  I found a pair.  One brown pair.  And when I got back to work, I put them on.  Why is it that my height and weight were in the middle of the range for the particular size I bought and yet, I'm in the bathroom nearly in tears b/c the stupid Kmart tights are not going on well.  At 2/3 of the way on, I removed them and did the whole stretch method - all the while praying that I would not cause snags in the thin cheap fabric.  I did manage to get them on...but I feel like something stuffed in sausage casing.  And it ain't pretty.  $7.57 for tights that once the clock strikes 4:25 and I change in to my jeans for babysitting, said tights are going in the trash.  I did go online and take the Kmart feedback survey and told them NEVER again and NO I did not want to sign up for their drawing to win Kmart cash.  I said, "I do not want to sign up.  Please refer to my survey comments."  Duh!!!!

Ok.  Rant over.
*Whispers*  I still hate these tights.

My completely smitten with fall outfit....

I went to Target for a card and left with a mustard CARDigan.  Card is in CARDigan......  Coincidence?   I think not.  :)

It's been awhile.

While I was in The JoAnn Fabrics store this afternoon purchasing pre-punched paper for my 2024 garden journal, I said to myself, "Self,...
