Tomorrow, October 4, 2012, I get to leave work early to go help celebrate my friend Gloria's fabulous birthday!!! You see, we've been friends for close to a decade (I think technically 9 years, give or take a month or two). Nine years. Wow!!! God is moving her and her family to Indianapolis in just 12 days. When she first informed me of the move, it seemed like it was forever away... Well, the days have flown by and now time is winding down...tomorrow is the only day that works for her schedule and it just soo happens that tomorrow is her actual birthday. What are we doing for her birthday? PEDICURES!!! And probably coffee. :) It's what we do. Infact I was a little morose the other day when I found a pedicure picture of all my peeps. It was taken Spring 2011. We were all smiles. When I looked at the smiling faces, I had a fleeting moment that two of the girlies pictured and after the 15th, three of those gals will be a little further away and not soo accessible for pedicures. (Sigh.) God is good. He allowed me the great fortune of having our paths intertwined -- for but a short time... I'm thankful for technology. We can still stay connected to one another.
I'm thankful for a place of employment that let's me give a short notice to have a few hours off. :) That's a huge blessing.
Tomorrow I intend to embrace this moment and not fill it with tears even though I'm going to miss her...
