...had something all planned out in your head only to have those plans interrupted? I cannot be alone in this, right?
Earlier this week I thought a particular event was going to go much like something out of one of those sappy chick flicks...so I primped and spent a ridiculous amount of time trying on cute dress after cute dress. I took extra time trying to tame my curls. I brought out the big guns - Falling in Love - the bottle of perfume that makes me extra girlie.
How I thought the event should happen...
A charming girl seated at her desk performing secretarial skills like none other.
*Ding-dong*
Secretary gets up from her desk and scampers to her cubicle's entrance. She slowly (and dramatically) turns her head to the right. She is speechless for there stands the main character.
She walks on clouds to the window. She presses the release on the side door. In waltzes the main character. He says her name. She smiles. He smiles. They talk for a few minutes about nothing particular. More smiling.
What actually happened...
Secretary's co-worker who had been under unnecessary stress casually mentions that she has to go clean the Board room. The secretary realizes she had adequate time and energy to do this slightly meaningless task. Secretary realizes after some prompting by the Holy Spirit that this is what love does...love does kind things in the name of Jesus so that other may know Him. So she sets aside her plans, picks up a box, and makes her way to the mess to put away and clean up.
Secretary is rewarded with kindness and words of gratitude.
