No one actually inquired aloud, "Angie, are you Wonder Woman?" What they did was expect me to take a list of 60 plus property pins and magically convert those 10 digit pins into mailing addresses complete with property owner, street address, city, state, and zip...oh and double check in case there are renters because we will want to mail them to the landlords as well. Ooooh and the format I am giving you the initial information in is terrible and horrible and a 2nd grader could've done a better job with this initial info....but goodluck, Wonder Woman!
Ooooh and this engineer needed the letters printed out in 20 minutes...along with color maps.
Turns out 40 letters were critical and I managed to get them done in about a half hour.
I turned the letters over to the chief inspector and waltzed back to the copy room to check the status of my file copies, the project engineer stopped me and began lecturing me on the importance of color copies of the maps.
*Insert steam coming out my ears*
I took a deep cleansing breath, thought to myself, BLESS YOUR HEART!!! and replied outloud, "What you saw on the copier are copies." (DUH!) "What I printed for the home owners was in color. I figured you are a smart guy; you surely can look at the scanned color image on the I: drive and see the green grass and the brown dirt." (Insert internal eye roll!)
For 10 years I have been a secretary...and long before this decade of secretarying (which I'm pretty sure is a word!), the good Lord gave me common sense.
One time in the last 10 years, I printed something in black-and-white that should've been color...and let me tell you - it was not the stupid maps that I had to hurry up and print and get out the door. *smiles*
Some days I wish I wasn't such an efficient secretary. My efficiency has lead my co-workers to believe that I, the magnificent Engineering Secretary, am Wonder Woman. I'm not.
