Traveling alone

Someone once asked me, "How can you travel all by yourself?  Aren't you afraid of traveling alone?"

The honest-to-goodness answer is no.  I am not afraid to travel alone.  I have yet to be at an airport by myself.  I have yet to be on a train or in a bus all by myself.

The beauty in traveling alone is...I only have to worry about me, Angie Good.  I only have to order coffee for me.  I only have to make sure I packed the TSA-approved quart-size zipped bag with my liquids.  I only have to consider my work and social life schedules when booking airfare.  If I want to spend $5.63 on a HUGE bottle of spring water while sitting at O'Hare and people-watching, there's no judgement.  There's only a happily-hydrated version of me.

I am forever thankful for parents who raised me to embrace adventure.  Even slightly scary adventure..like the landing in to the Seattle airport.  I knew from my 2012 adventure that the landing tends to be bumpy.  And yet even though there may be bumps, I still choose to board a Boeing 737 and fly across the country to celebrate Samantha.  I would not miss it for the world.

There is beauty in traveling alone and I cannot wait for my next adventure.
