The very last bullet on my job description states, something to the effect, any other task management deems fit. That's an Angie-paraphrase but you get the idea. This bullet is also on probably (and this is totally a guess because I've not had the time to read through the entire department's job descriptions but if I had to guess) 97% of the rest of the department's job descriptions.
Never have I ever thought to say, "No" to a task assigned to me by my boss or supervisor.
It floors me when I hear people state OUTLOUD that they don't want to perform an assigned task...especially when said task is actually part of their job description. When the task does not fall under the last blanket bullet about whatever management deems fit. The task is legitimately part of their role in the department.
My job is to make B&R job's easier. I'm there to be a part of a team. There's no "i" in team; there is an "i" in pizza though.
Too be honest - I'm actually enjoying the show. I'm enjoying the heat being taken off of me and put on B&R. I love the responsibility shift. It removes me from the issue and let's the spotlight shine bright on the "star" of the show. Shine on, my friend. Shine on!
