After a snowed-in day, I was kind of looking forward to getting back to work...little did I realize that I, Angie Good, would be practically BLAMED for yesterday's blizzard and two broken printes. Oh friends, it didn't happen just once or twice today...it happened 4 times! FOUR TIMES!!! I consider myself a nice, customer-oriented kind of gal....however by call #4 -- I believe I said it best to Leah at the gym tonight, "During the fourth call, Fun Angie left the building!" I guess now I know what the weatherman has to go through everytime there is bad weather.
The first two callers thought it was extremely rude that we were closed yesterday and how could we keep a mandatory meeting on the schedule 6 days from now. Ummm...it's still there because I have no power to change it? The last two calls were taken after I had broken both of our large printers. YES - BOTH LARGE PRINTERS WERE BROKEN BY ME...on purpose? Not hardly. The first had some toner-replacement issues that were causing icky smears and smudges...and the second printer, it just died. Gone.
By 4:13, I was bound and determined to keep the last two callers from (gasp) having to wait an extra 24 hours for the printers to be fixed...Caller #3, (and I believe this might be an Angie para-phrase) "How can you expect me to wait an extra day for the drawings? Your printer is broken. There is mandatory meeting next week," said as if I don't know that the meeting is taking place next week...which lead me to only hear the following, "BLAH-BLAH-BLAH!" Oh, I was cordial and nice...because that is what a good receptionist does. However after hanging up the phone, I stated outloud for my spider plant to hear..."I used-to-be a really nice person. I don't understand. There was a BLIZZARD! We weren't here yesterday." Note: said spider plant had no comment...perhaps it feared for its life.
Sooooo what did I do? After consulting Spidey (the plant), I asked myself, What would Fun Angie do? And in reply to that -- it was determined that Fun Angie would print out the 14 pages using the smudged-edge/shadow-ish printer and not really care...sooo that is what I did. I printed the two sets for the grumblers. I stapled them. I folded them. I tucked them into their expandable mailers. Then I shut off my computer and enjoyed my final 15 minutes of the day reading a Karen Kingsbury book which made me cry. And then I went to the gym...because I really, really needed it.
I sure do hope tomorrow is better...
