The morning of the 5th day of December...

This morning, I was running a smidge-bit late to work.  I think I was about 5 minutes late getting out the door.  No biggee.  I allow for 10-15 extra minutes.  I like taking my time getting to work and not having to run from Rosie to the time clock just to punch in.  I am a meanderer.  I like to saunter in to the office.  No pressure.  Well...today that was not to be...(keep reading)!

After leaving a smidge bit late, I was approximately one mile from the cottage when I realized I had forgotten to grab my boring, plain Jane, soy milk coffee creamer.  It is slightly sweetened...and when I say "slightly"...trust me -- I mean SLIGHTLY!  It's good. I'm not complaining.  I'm just letting you know what I normally put in my coffee.  French Vanilla slightly sweetened soy creamer.

Grabbed my lunchbag but forgot the container of soy creamer. Two words popped in my head:  "DANGER!  DANGER!"  I had a split second decision to make...not sure if I should turn around and head back to the cottage...or take a chance and grab another container near work.  Surely Hilander/Logli would still carry my creamer, right?

8 minutes before I must be scanned in...I race into Hilander/Logli...go directly to the section where soy creamer formerly was located...except there was no creamer.  Time was ticking.  (Insert Jaws theme!)  I found a kid working in produce and asked him.  His reply, "I don't know...if we have it, it will be with the milk."

Race to the dairy.  No creamer!  (GASP!)  What'a a girl to do.  It's Monday...and no coffee creamer!!!  And let's be honest, it's going to take me more than 7 minutes to travel clear across town to Starbucks...so I was stuck!

I looked to the right.  Looked to the left.  Made a made dash for the regular coffee creamer.  Pulled out a small bottle of Peppermint Mocha.  After regaining my sanity, I put back the small bottle and grabbed the large one.  DESPERATE TIMES CALL FOR DESPERATE MEASURES!!!!

Here's what I figured out while racing to the U-Scan (which was closed.  Of course!):  It's Christmas.  One Peppermint Mocha at Starbucks would cost me more than this HUGE, GI-NORMOUS bottle of creamer.  'Tis the Season!!!  And I laughed as I paid the clerk and ran to Rosie.

My heart was pounding as I drove to work.  I got to the light where I can see my office building.  I glanced at the clock.  4 minutes.  I prayed (VERBATIM), "Lord, I am about to do something totally stupid; please protect me!"  I zipped into the right turn lane and then I made a quick U-turn and headed up the driveway to the office, all the while thinking, That was totally AS SEEN ON TV...The Dukes of Hazard!!!!  Nice Angie Good.  Really nice.  Drive like a maniac but first you pray for your stupid maneuver.

Thankfully the Lord did not allow any traffic from either direction.  I managed to get in to the building to the time clock with 2 minutes to spare.  My heart was still racing.  And all the while I was thinking, This is why I hate being hurried when I come to work in the morning!!!  Two cups of coffee later and a break reading through Psalms and everything was turned a-right.  Wow -- what a crazy morning!!!

Oooh did you read the other day that I somehow got way ahead of schedule in my travels through Psalms.  No worries...I went back and re-read from 119 on...so I am back on schedule.  Not that I suppose it mattered other than to me and my marked-up calendar.  I was getting confused trying to remember just how far ahead I was.  Psalms are such a comfort to my weary heart.

This week (and I do realize it's only Monday) has been very unusual.  I have two situations (potentially a third if I really stop and analyze it, which I have no plans of doing) happening and I am not sure what is going to be the outcome.  I know that the Lord knows...I am trusting Him and guarding my heart.  That's all I will say for now...

I hope your 5th day of December was delightful.

Tootles!
~ Fun Angie

It's been awhile.

While I was in The JoAnn Fabrics store this afternoon purchasing pre-punched paper for my 2024 garden journal, I said to myself, "Self,...
