"When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us." ~ Helen Keller

This morning while getting ready for work, I was thinking about the quote above while pondering some verses that correlate...was thinking about how painful it is to walk away from the closed doors in our lives. It hurts. We feel as though we are leaving a piece of a our hearts...and then there's the fear of the unknown... What we forget is that God is the one who closes the door and He promises to never leave us nor forsake us. (And that "never" there is never ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever...so on and so forth...)
So I guess what I am saying outloud is -- it's okay if there's fear and trepidation in your heart...acknowledge it but then let God help you walk away from the closed door...because as Helen said, "we do not see the one which has been opened for us." I like to think of it this way -- we stare at a closed door...when God has opened a window for us. Not just any window...but a window with a light spring breeze wafting through...and the breeze is mingled with lilacs and the smell of dirt.
P.S. I'm not in any means saying that this walking-away is
easy (infact it took me 10 years to walk away from a closed
door) but I know this for sure -- after the first steps -- you find that
God is waiting right there to meet you and He will walk
with you -- hand-in-hand.
