My favorite co-worker took a job with the State of Montana and headed out westwardly in April. His family has remained here for a couple months to pack stuff up, finish out the school year and get ready for the big relocate.
In my head, I knew they were moving...however it didn't really hit me until our most recent monthly department meeting when it was announced that his replacement was chosen and had accepted the position.
He's really gone.
His office has been empty.
The therapy chair has not been sat in.
I know he's gone...but soon his family will be gone too.
I'm pretty much a ridiculous aunt to those fabulous teenagers...and a friend of the wife...and the spoiler of the dogs.
Man, oh man, I really do not like goodbyes.
Someone said goodbyes are grand because you get to say "hello" again. I want to "hello" the sayer of that saying with a smack upside the head. Not really because I am not prone to violence...unless you are a moth or a grasshopper. If you are such insect, "Prepare to die!" and know that I will probably stop at nothing until your demise... If you are not an insect, then take comfort in the fact that I am kind.
