Today was one of those days in which I'm not exactly sure where the day went. I know that beginning at 8:01 until 12 'noon, I attempted the impossible. I attempted sorting through a project file that consisted of MULTIPLE files which were filed by (and please don't take any offense if you are male) a guy. These multiple project files which relate to one huge project are basically my worst filing nightmare brought to life.
My biggest issue with this nightmare-come-to-life ordeal is that there are sooo many subcontractors within this one project that I am not sure how I want to organize this...and it's up to me because I will be the one fetching the documents. Soooo...no pressure...but I had better make it understandable lest in ten years when someone wants some random document from this file, I will be spending an entire day tracking it down.
After four hours of being surrounded by reports and invoices, I decided to go sit outside and enjoy my lunch. Isn't this weather we are having just lovely? High 70's and extremely low humidity. Today I threw caution to the wind and.... A) left my hair curly and unruly; B) wore my glasses; C) drove to and from work with the windows down singing along with the radio. I'm fairly certain that guys in the pick-up next to me at the stoplight at Sandy Hollow and 11th Street enjoyed the crazy, curly-haired girl's rendition of whatever was currently playing on the radio.
After lunch, I made sure to send a picture of my office area to my friend Misty complete with a note "See -- I really am working today!" Ha. ha. ha. ha. It wasn't more than 0.3 seconds after pressing SEND that my phone rang. Caller ID told me that it was Misty...I picked up the phone laughing... She informed me of my not-rightness...which is fine. I mean, seriously - we've been friends for 15 years! She knows I'm not right. I know she's not right. :) Didn't your mother teach you -- Birds of a feather flock together.
The rest of the day flew by...4:30 came and went - as did the girl with curly hair.
After coming back and taking care of the dogs, I locked them in the house and went and checked on Maggie. I have to tell you the saddest thing. Soooo I gave her some food, fresh water, and some love. Then as I was walking out to my car, I heard the saddest "Meeeeeow" ever. It was pitiful. I felt awful leaving her again...so I went back inside and talked to her and made sure she was okay. Poor Magster misses her human after all. You see, she is usually snobby - with her nose up in the air, she prances about like she doesn't need / miss me. Well...apparently 11 days being without one's human has made her re-think our relationship. Maybe now she won't be so persnickety. Before leaving the second time, I told her, "One more sleep and then I will be home. Tomorrow night - it's you and me cleaning the cottage!" I think that will suffice.
Once I left for real, I decided that I had better hit the gym...atleast for cardio. And that, my friends, is exactly what I did. After the gym - I bought a strawberry poppy seed chicken salad from Panera and headed back to Cherry Valley for my last "sleep" with the doggies.
Am I sad that my house- / dog-sitting gig is over? Kind of - in a sense. I like these dogs. They are cute. But I miss my quiet, little cottage with my feline. Soooo...no worries. I will say "yes" to the house- / dog-sitting gig again...but for now, I'll be dreaming of my Home Sweet Cottage.
Toodles. :)
