Sewing Diaries: Knit Material, Round 2

Yesterday afternoon I went to JoAnn's and bought 2-half yard pieces of knit fabric which I hope to turn in to a cute infinity scarf.  The fabric is actually double-sided so I spent a better part of 10 minutes trying to decide which side I would use as the "right side."  Side A:  Black background with white squares - not large white squares so it looks techno-80's bad.  They are smallish squares and kind of cute.  Side B:  Black and white skinny stripes.  I'm choosing Side B.  I believe the birthday girl recipient will love a striped scarf.  I'm hoping and praying this turns out better than the arm floatie first attempt.

I cut out the pattern piece and trimmed the fabric down to size.  I've not attempted a single stitch on the knit fabric, as I want to seek professional help for this particular project.  Not professional help as in the black leather couch and "Tell me, how does this make you feel?  Is this working for you?" kind-of help.  Professional help as in my sewing instructor.  Sewer Extraordinaire!!! :)

I'm hoping she can walk me through the steps and explain them to me like I am in the 5th grade.  I intend to take notes directly on the pattern's instructions.  Why not?  I mean - it's my pattern.

I promise to update you on the status of the infinity scarf.  Also, if I get the scarf done, I managed to save some clearance fabric from going to the big fabric store in the sky.  Why is it that I feel like I am rescuing clearance fabric?  I don't feel this way when I find a Merona item on the Target clearance...yet it probably is made with/of fabric!  Why do I feel like I am saving the fabric from its ultimate demise yet with the Target clearance item, I think, Wow - I was hoping this would end up on the $3.88 clearance!  It's never life-or-death with the Target clearance.  Hmmmmm...

At any rate - the clearance fabric is brown with tiny pale blue, a little darker blue, lavender, purple, tan, and white polkadots.  The dots look hand-drawn and about the size of a pencil eraser.  ("Re-racer" was what one of my 4-year olds from my student teaching practicum would say!)  The dots are small...and there are so many colors that surely I have a top to match!!!  Plus I was thinking if this turns out cute...maybe this could be the trio skirt fabric.  My 2nd International Sensation!!!  A polkadot skirt.  I'm, also, thinking if I make skirt "F" -- I will enough left-ova fabric to cover a headband.  Wow -- cute-ness!!!!  Total cuteness!!!

It's been awhile.

While I was in The JoAnn Fabrics store this afternoon purchasing pre-punched paper for my 2024 garden journal, I said to myself, "Self,...
