A blessing of being single

This past week, I learned something cool about myself.  And I don't mean that to sound  braggy.

Being single has made me assertive and not in a loud, obnoxious, be-bossy sort-of way.  What I mean is assertive as in - not stopping until I get to the answer.

There were two examples of this in the past 5 working days.

First - a training session with a place TBD (to be determined) and it wasn't "determined" to the participants as of the morning of.  I assumed it would be the large room across the pond.  Instead of just wondering or waiting for someone to email, I meandered across the lobby and found the answer.  Yep - it was in said room.

Second - there is a big hoop-lala on Monday.  A press conference with some dignitaries.  (I've been invited to join in the festivities so does that make me famous?  One can only hope, laughed the girl with curly hair.)  Any-who ------ two question marks loomed over getting contact information.  Instead of hoping for the contact information to fall from the sky, I clicked around the internet and then picked up the phone and had the answers within 7 minutes.  Seven minutes or fretting for 15 to 20.  Hmmmmm...

Not having someone else to rely on to _____________ (fill in the blank...get groceries, run errands, mow the grass {which thankfully I don't have to worry about --> reason #4 why I love renting!!!!}, etc.) has made me get the job done!!!  Why sit and fret for several minutes?

Of course, on the flip-side of not having someone else to help DO stuff...there's not anyone else to do stuff with...(i.e. go to the lake, grab a cup of coffee with, laugh at the absurdities of life with, etc. etc.  I like when Jane Austen uses "etc. etc.")

So there you have it -- a HUGE blessing regarding my singleness.  :)

It's been awhile.

While I was in The JoAnn Fabrics store this afternoon purchasing pre-punched paper for my 2024 garden journal, I said to myself, "Self,...
