Saturday Randomness

Happy August!!!  Where, oh where, is the summer going?  I mean, don't get me wrong - my Autumn-lovin' heart is ready for sweater weather, hometown football games, and excessive coffee drinking...however, this summer has been delightfully charming and I'm not ready to write "August" anything!

It's been a while since I've blogged...it's nothing personal, it's just that I have been enjoying this little thing called LIFE.  Having a life.  Living life.  Watching each day unfold into something magnificent.

Speaking of magnificent...did you see the full blue moon last night???  My balcony is not painted yet (I've only been asking management for 19 months - but WHO IS COUNTING???)...where was I?  I've been waiting to get balcony furniture until it gets painted but now I'm thinking WHAT A SHAM!!!!  I should just go and look for balcony furniture -- especially now since they will be clearancing the summer stuff!!!  Perhaps this will be my Saturday adventure...

ANY-WHO.....last night I hauled one of my kitchen cafĂ© chairs outside and I sat outside in my jammies and gray hoodie and faux fur slippers watching the moon.  Here's what I wrote...

I'm completely smitten with fireflies dancing about and this amazing blue moon!!!  Even the background city (traffic) noise fades away as I hear crickets sweetly chirping their summer song.  And summer is my third favorite season...just wait until Autumn.  *Sigh*

If you regularly stalk my blog, you know my obsession with Fall.  Pumpkin everything...muffins, scones, CHAI!, Noosa Yoghurt.  It's a Fall party in your mouth!!!

But for today -- August 1st -- I'm going to embrace summer.  And by embrace summer, I mean, hit the gym, run some errands, and perhaps sit outside on my UNPAINTED balcony.

Maybe when the leasing office said they were going to paint my balcony in the summer, they meant 2016.

Happy Saturday!!!

Weekend shenanigans

It is Sunday night.  I am sad the weekend is over.  Technically it will be over in 2 hours and 23 minutes.  * Sigh *

Friday night I ran several errands and managed to hit the gym and make supper before dragging out my going-away-overnight tote.  Said tote has not had much use as of late which is just unfortunate because said tote loves adventures...as does the girl with curly hair!

Saturday - Sara and I met at our favorite coffee establishment or as I like to call it, the place where all shenanigans begin...Higher Grounds in Freeport, Illinois.

Caffeine and snacks purchased, we headed up to Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin.

Several random things to remember...
1. The GPS was set to walking mode.  It told us to turn on to the Jane Adams Trail which just so happens to be a bike path.  Oh and it said our route would take us 1 day 23 hours.

2. The trip up and back were filled with copious amounts of chit-chat.

3. Our overnight accommodations were approximately 1 mile from a jail.

4. Hotel room #1 was unacceptable.  Hotel room #2 was tolerable.

5. Sara said casually, "Check to see if the window's locked."  GUESS WHAT??? IT WASN'T!!!!!! (See #3!  Danger!!!)

6. The Walmart
7. The shingles
8. The Dunkin' Donuts

9. Hitting 2 Goodwills

10. Getting to spend 24 hours with my best friend:  PRICELESS

Saturday

Do you ever have a day off that as the day progresses, it feels extremely laid back and fabulous but then at the end of that very same day - as you replay the events - you realize that you actually were quite productive?  Today was that kind of day for me.

Woke-up up
Drank coffee
Cleaned the bathroom
Load of laundry
Went to see Missy for a haircut
Drove to Freeport to go to the Stephenson County Fair
Viewed all the animals at said fair
Went to Higher Grounds for air conditioning and an iced decaf coffee
Drove home
Ate lunch
Got groceries
Talked to my brother for 2 hours
Hobby Lobby run - discovered if I go the back way and the light is green, it only takes 4 minutes.  *whispers*  4 minutes
Bought some cotton yarn to work on a wedding present
Came home
Made homemade pizza
Watched reruns of a 90's sitcom
Load of laundry

Craziness.  I really thought of today as a lazy day.  It wasn't really that way at all...

It's been awhile.

While I was in The JoAnn Fabrics store this afternoon purchasing pre-punched paper for my 2024 garden journal, I said to myself, "Self,...
