It's not big things.

The older I get the more I realize it's not the big things that matter most.  It's the little things.  It's the handwritten note...the smiley face "Have a great Monday" text...the stranger paying for my cup of coffee...the unexpected bag of Peanut M&M's being tossed at me from my office doorway...the never ending basket of Tootsie Rolls on my file cabinet...Scrabble tiles changing Inbox to xobin...the "Thanks for everything, Angie" emails...the holding of the door for a stranger.

I want to SEE and NOTICE and BE A PART OF these little things.

They matter.
They matter a lot.

3 random thoughts

1. Flavored dental floss weirds me out.
Why do you need to flavor this?

2. Scented toilet paper.
It's a real thing.  I accidentally purchased lavender scented toilet paper.  The scent oozed out of the completely sealed package.  It should be noted it was ICKY lavender scent.  Cheap, icky lavender.  Not the good stuff...like the fields in England or Seattle, for that matter.  I returned the t.p. which made for an awkward trip in to Meijers.  Who returns toilet paper???  This girl.

3. Dental floss has an expiration date.
Why is this?  Does it ever really expire?  It's string.  Albeit wax-coated string.  How does that go bad?  I was totally a rebel and used my floss well-past its expiration date.  Thankfully there's no such thing as the floss police.

347

A couple summers ago, I read Ann VosKamp's book about her random blessings.  It is her everyday moments that she penned and put into book format.  That book helped me see everyday things and interruptions as God's blessings and moments to see Him.

Last summer I remember taking my composition book - my list - and putting it on my bookshelf where it remained for nearly 52 weeks.

Recently I have been adding to my list...random things...interesting tidbits about my day and work moments...5:26 a.m. emails and cloud-watching moments...answers to prayer and intriguing thoughts.

It is completely random...and completely ME!!!!!

Saturday Randomness

Happy August!!!  Where, oh where, is the summer going?  I mean, don't get me wrong - my Autumn-lovin' heart is ready for sweater weather, hometown football games, and excessive coffee drinking...however, this summer has been delightfully charming and I'm not ready to write "August" anything!

It's been a while since I've blogged...it's nothing personal, it's just that I have been enjoying this little thing called LIFE.  Having a life.  Living life.  Watching each day unfold into something magnificent.

Speaking of magnificent...did you see the full blue moon last night???  My balcony is not painted yet (I've only been asking management for 19 months - but WHO IS COUNTING???)...where was I?  I've been waiting to get balcony furniture until it gets painted but now I'm thinking WHAT A SHAM!!!!  I should just go and look for balcony furniture -- especially now since they will be clearancing the summer stuff!!!  Perhaps this will be my Saturday adventure...

ANY-WHO.....last night I hauled one of my kitchen cafĂ© chairs outside and I sat outside in my jammies and gray hoodie and faux fur slippers watching the moon.  Here's what I wrote...

I'm completely smitten with fireflies dancing about and this amazing blue moon!!!  Even the background city (traffic) noise fades away as I hear crickets sweetly chirping their summer song.  And summer is my third favorite season...just wait until Autumn.  *Sigh*

If you regularly stalk my blog, you know my obsession with Fall.  Pumpkin everything...muffins, scones, CHAI!, Noosa Yoghurt.  It's a Fall party in your mouth!!!

But for today -- August 1st -- I'm going to embrace summer.  And by embrace summer, I mean, hit the gym, run some errands, and perhaps sit outside on my UNPAINTED balcony.

Maybe when the leasing office said they were going to paint my balcony in the summer, they meant 2016.

Happy Saturday!!!

Three completely unrelated facts about me

1. This past weekend Bryan and I watched all the extras included with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie.  (The new one...just to clarify.)  And I, Angie Good, LOVED all the behind the scenes.  The orchastra fun facts - including the composers love of John Williams.  The turtles were actually real actors wearing sensors and shell costumes.

2. I love trail mix.  Recently I made my own with almonds, peanuts and bits of dark chocolate.   Mmmmm...it's such an easy-peasy snack.  (If left to my own devices, I could consume my body weight in peanuts...but they aren't really a "healthy" nut choice.  Plus I am pretty sure I would get a new body weight which is not my goal...)

3. I love traveling by train.  This past weekend I took a charter bus to Chicago and then went down an escalator, walked probably 200 steps and boarded an Amtrak train.  The train transported me to Jackson, Michigan.  It was 4.5 hours of uninterrupted knitting and reading.  A-maz-ing!!!

Taking a break...

It was not going so well.
What wasn't going so well?
My new knitting project.
It's a another hat.

Are you thinking, For the love of yarn, why is she making another ridiculous hat?  It's simple. There's a birthday at the end of this month...and the b-day girl loves hats.  That would be L-O-V-E loves hats.  She also happens to love sparkles so imagine my delight when I found variegated gray yarn with sequins randomly attached throughout the yarn.  {Let's get one thing straight - I'm not the kinda gal to attach my own sequins.  Are you kidding me right now?  Sew those little shiny things into the knitting?  Ummmmm...no thanks.  Infact, if you scroll down to the next post - Chicken Tortilla Soup - you will read all about my laziness in that I just dump the ingredients in my crockpot and turn it on and walk away.  Infact, the irony is - that recipe came from my beloved cookbook, Fix It and Forget It, and 9 times out of 10, I usually do forget about whatever it is that is simmering and cooking in my crockpot all day while I am answering the phones, typing, and occasionally filing.}

Where was I?  Oh - yes, I remember.  I NEEDED A BREAK FROM A VERY BAD KNITTING PATTERN soooo I grabbed my needed-to-be-returned Hallmark DVDs and headed to the library.  {Knitting disclaimer:  It's not a BAD project....it just wasn't going well for me which translates - I had about 28 rows done, which happens to be a good chunk of the project, when I noticed that the ribbed part that sits on your head looks ripply...think Little House on the Prairie night caps.  Those (Little House ones) were supposed to be ripply.  The hat for the b-day girl NOT SO MUCH!!!!!!!  I removed the project from the needles and unraveled all my work and looked at Celia cat and said, "I'm going to the library and Hobby Lobby."}

First I stopped at Hobby Lobby and picked up a skein of yarn to make yours truly a winter hat to go with an orange wool coat.  The yarn - DEEEEEELIGHTFUL!  It's variegated with mustard, a muted vintage-ish blue, brighter-than-sage green, and I think there's some cream.  I feel as though I am missing a color from this description so if this is the case, please don't shoot the messenger.

I love the library.  I always have.  As a child, our little village library was only open on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and every-other-Saturday.  The library was 4 miles from our house and my brother and I would ride our bikes there.  We would, then, sit for hours skimming books.  We didn't have the Internet back then {I love telling my Sunday school kids this awesome fact because then they equate my age with that of a T-rex.  No, I was not alive when dinosaurs roamed the planet.} so going to the library was actually going for books and only books.  The library late fee fine was a whole nickel.  I'm wondering if this nickel fine is similar to when my grandpa would tell me that when he as a kid, gas was a quarter a gallon.  Suddenly, I am feeling my age...no Internet and 5 cent fines.  I digress.

Speaking of my childhood...
In like first or second grade, I had a lovely cream colored Holly Hobby dress.  Holly Hobby was wearing a green and orange print dress.  With my snazzy dress, I wore a pair of orange tights with brown buckle shoes.  I loved this dress.  I have a picture (somewhere) of me holding a book, sitting on a vintage trunk, wearing my beloved dress.  I love this picture.  It's my childhood summed up in a snapshot.  You see, I'm quite reserved...until you get to know me.  Once that happens - I'm sorry.  :)

Anyway....the orange tights.
Yesterday I wore raspberry colored tights with my knee-length denim skirt, a cute striped shirt and a leopard print scarf.  {Insert me rolling my r's...rrrrrrrrrrrr!  I heart leopard print.}  Any-whoooo...those fab raspberry tights got me thinking about my orange tights and Holly Hobby dress.  I love that my childhood memories involve lovely dresses that were handmade for me by my mom.  Such a wonderful treasure...time and sewing.  I didn't quite appreciate it as a child, but now that I am an adult (Ugh - adulthood!), I really do appreciate more and more.

Next week I have mustard tights and teal tights to wear!  Have I mentioned today just how much I love Fall and sweater-y weather-y outfits????  I do!  I do!

Sorry about that...

The past three weeks have been a blur.  A complete and utter blur causing me to have moments of complete and utter, I'm forgetting something!  I know I am forgetting something important! moments.

I'm resigned to being the girl with the calendar attached to her person.  Yes, my beloved red hacienda.  {Yes, I am aware that hacienda means house...however to a know-it-all-who-truly-doesn't-know-it-all, the word means calendar.  (Insert me laughing at the memory of this word blunder.)}

Do you want a recap of where I've been or should I just move on from here?  I feel like I owe it to my loyal blog-stalkers to explain where I've been and the kind of shenanigans that I have taken part in.

Well, the last time I blogged was more than a week ago...and before that it was truly hit or miss...soo how about I start with last weekend.  Oh, I've been meaning to tell you about last weekend.

The last weekend of September I found myself in Whitewater, Wisconsin at my beloved Camp Joy.  Ladies Retreat.  {Blissful sigh.}  Our speaker was Mardi Collier.  She spoke on knowing God.  The whole weekend was ways that we can know God...and when we know Him, we will trust Him more.  I truly loved ladies retreat this year.  In times past, I've left with notes detailing law, law, law...  And while it's true, we need the law...where I live, I need the grace.  I need grace for today so that I can remember to share grace with others as we walk side-by-side in life's journey.  This ladies retreat was a complete and utter encouragement and refreshing to my weary soul.

My roomies at retreat were delightful and fun.  We played pool where I was nearly injured as roomie #1 hit the white ball and it jumped across the table and assaulted me.  No worries...I survived.  Traumatized, but I survived.  It's disturbing to see a pool ball sailing at you...and in my moment of panic, I froze.

As with all good things, a day and an overnight and retreat was over.  Honestly, this was one retreat that I did not want to see end.  I could've spent a week there...or two or three.

The following Monday ~ I went with the girls out for sushi at our new favorite sushi place, Spider Sushi.  If you're in the market for good, not over-priced sushi, try Spider Sushi @ the corner of Alpine and Harrison.  It's deeeelish.  They have gluten-free which, of course, makes my anti-gluten little heart go pitter-patter.  We are attempting to dine there atleast once a month (if not twice) and try everything on the menu.  I'm not looking forward to trying the fish eggs (gag!) but I will...because what if I like it?  I mean, I went nearly 35 years without ever trying guacamole and that's just a hate crime against avocados which I now love.  Also, cashews.  Same story - different food.  I love them.  I never knew I love them.

Tuesday brought about yarn store shenanigans and coffee with Lauren, Leah, and Ruthie.  In our best attempt, Leah and I tried convincing Ruthie to sign-up for a knitting class and we rejoiced with Lauren and her new-found-love of knitting.  I fell prey to the soft yarns and the most adorable cupcake hat.  When I say "fell prey" - I mean, I bought some lovely, good quality yarn and set out to make a little hat for the newest member of our church, Faith.  Yarn purchased...but I had some pattern-related questions was instructed that the knitter of the hat would be working on Saturday.  DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW MUCH SELF-CONTROL I HAD TO EXERCISE TO NOT TRY KNITTING THE PATTERN????  THE NICE YARN WAS CALLING TO ME..."ANGIE GOOD, KNIT ME!!!!"  I had to set the bag out of sight and put it out of mind for 4 whole days.  It was tough.

Wednesday night ~ I helped at the kids' consignment sale.  It was actually quite fun.  My favorite Wednesday night shopper was a kid buying a light saber.  He as pretty sure THIS light saber was real.  Another fellow told me he was thinking that sharing his new toys was going to be hard and he really wouldn't be able to do it.  Oh, the honesty of four-year olds.  Let's be honest - when I get a new office supply, I really don't want to share it with my engineers.

Thursday night ~ MY BEST YES NIGHT!!!!!  I haven't blogged about Lysa TerKeurst's study...but like all of her other books - this study is soo helpful and applicable.  The most recent BEST YES epiphany I have learned is to evaluate all decisions on four levels...spiritually, emotionally, physically, and financially.  She said if even one area is a NO, than you should probably say "No" because it won't be your best yes.  I'm doing this study with a dear friend who such an encouragement and a cheerleader reminding me to keep on keeping on...even after I had a horrible meltdown and said yes when I should've said no.

Friday night ~ I hit the gym because that was a BEST YES decision before going to work at the consignment sale.  This was my genius moment.  Friday was a rough work day...which is fine because it's work and not vacation.  I get it.

Saturday ~ Helped all day (literally) at the sale before sneaking away to Knit One Purl Two to discuss the cupcake.  Remember the pretty yarn?  I was totally wanting to work on the hat.  Knitting seemed like a great stress-reliever...until I started using slippery double pointed knitting needles and very soft yarn.  I was knitting along and everything was going well.  I started adding the frosting and did the tricky part where you do a series of loops and such and pick up a pre-knitted frosting stitch to knit two together to get the ruffly edge...and then I noticed a stitch had fallen off the needle and I didn't catch it in time and it unraveled...and then I unraveled as I unraveled the whole project.  Of course, Miss Cup-half-full, I told myself, "Angie Good, this gives you another opportunity to start again and re-work the pattern."  {She drives me nuts some times with her delightful notions.}

Sunday was spent being delightfully lazy...enjoying all of my Fallish faves...apple crisp for breakfast and then sweet potatoes with my lunch.  Mmmmmmm...I heart food.  Especially comfort foods.  Sweet potatoes...soup...apple crisp...pumpkin muffins...

This brings me to last night - we started our new Bible study which was delightful.  It was nice to meet together with the gals from church and discuss what the Lord taught us.  After the study, we celebrated our pastor's wife's birthday.  Birthdays are my favorite.  You are celebrating someone.  You're not celebrating an accomplishment or some job well done.  Birthdays are celebrating a person!!!

And here it is Tuesday evening.  It's a full moon tonight...and I must admit, it wasn't too crazy at work today which is always nice.  Full moons, when you work with small children, the public and/or the elderly, can be kinda scary.  Today wasn't bad.  Busy but not bad.  We are on the brink of doing three big jobs.  One was re-scheduled and moved up a month - with a four day notice.  Wow - thanks for the WHOLE four days (I say sarcastically!).  Could I not get 5 days or better yet 7 to 10 days?  {Sigh.}

It's only Tuesday and sadly, I am already looking forward to the weekend...which is now going to be plan B.  Plan A was me taking a roadtrip to Indianapolis to hear a most beloved author...but turns out there's too many ridiculous work factors that when left to other hands, the task unravels - much like my first attempt at the cupcake hat.

No more cupcake unravels for me - I purchased bamboo knitting needles.  According to the Internet, these little wooden gems will keep my slippery yarn from moving around.

Snarky vs. Condescending

Today I learned (from a reliable source) - there is a difference between condescending and snarky.  Condescension is best expressed while keeping a straight face.  Snarky needs a smirk.

Tuesday....

I am happy to report that I did not throw anyone's lunch today.  In fact today was a rather calm and quiet sort of Tuesday.  A handful of phone calls, some miscellaneous typing, and a couple random emails and before I realized it - it was 4:30.  :)

Even though my Tuesday was quiet, it was a great day!!!  :) Quiet, calm days are my favorite...

Just random

I probably should not be blogging tonight.  I just willy-nilly opened an empty post and started typing away.  Most days I have a random notion and spend the better part of the day mentally creating a post.  On a few occasions, someone will say something and I will think to myself, Yeah ~ that's bloggable!!!  Today is neither.

My day at work was peaceful and quiet.  With the exception of one task, my day was spent doing what I do best.  The one to do item was high-stress and required my complete attention to detail as the last time said task was performed, I missed a typo and received a small reprimand on the importance of detail.  {Sigh.}  No worries...today I ceased all other activities and I managed to disengage my brain from contemplating a myriad of other pressing thoughts and I was able to find a missing comma and three skipped words!  Wonder of wonders!!!  I should wear a sparkly A on my shirt tomorrow.  Super Angie to the rescue!!!  There's no grammar issue to tough for her!!!

Tonight I went from secretary extraordinaire to coffee peep.  I sure do love and appreciate my coffee peeps.  We've been friends for....well, for almost forever.  Tonight we met at Meg's and had coffee (some of us decaf chai) and treats and chit-chatted.  We shared burdens and funny tales.  I love each of these girls and I do not know what I would do without them.

Tomorrow is Friday.  Not only is it Friday....BUT it's haircut day for me!  I am not chopping off my lovely curls....however I do intend to ask my stylist to please do something to rejuvenate them!!!  It's winter and winter is tough on our hair.  I did read on Pinterest that you should take 5,000 IUs of Biotin for maximum hair benefit.  Never did I know that such a high dose of this vitamin was beneficial.

I am looking forward to my haircut and then trip to the gym with Lauren.  What a fabulous way to end a work week. :) Happy almost-Friday, blog-stalkers!!!

Clark Kent

Will someone please (said, "puh-leaze") explain to me why Lois Lane was so hung-up on Superman that she failed to notice an absolutely great guy Clark Kent was????  I really don't get it.  I would pick Clark Kent hands-down every single time.  He was quiet and shy and all-in-all a GREAT guy!!!

My week in review....

Hi!  Did you wonder what happened to the girl with curls?  Sorry about not blogging this past week....

Let's back-up to last weekend.  I spent the weekend moving and unpacking.  On Friday, my bestie brought her hubby's pickup and we were able to move 2 full truckloads plus 4 trips for Rosie.  Having those day-before-moving-day transfers made Saturday quite a bit easier.  Plus I had 10 people show up to help move and haul...and for the girls - unpack!!!

The move itself was easy because of the many hands.  I remember waking-up the Saturday morning without a single doubt that God wasn't going to come through and provide just the right amount of help.  He did!!!  And I soo thankful to those who gave of their time and energy to be a blessing!!!

Sunday was spent unpacking between church and choir.  Honestly ~ by the time choir practice had started (5:15 p.m.) I had hit a wall.  I vaguely remember walking in to choir late and sitting on the pew just listening and being encouraged.

Monday was more of a blur.  Some time around 1:00 p.m. a low-grade temp and a headache reeked havoc with my afternoon plans (Read: typing and filing).  So I spent the afternoon answering the phones and attempting edits to a tricky Excel spreadsheet.

Monday night's unpacking gathering was postponed and slumber was a must.  MUST!!!

Tuesday was quite pleasant after 9 hours of sweet slumber.  A couple friends came over Tuesday evening for chili and gabbing.

Wednesday night we bundled-up and went caroling!!!  It was so much fun being a blessing because we all know "the best way to spend Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear."

Thursday....did this past week have a Thursday?   :)

Friday was our department luncheon. Fun times!!!  I like it when we all get together and have lunch and can chit-chat.

And here it is....Saturday.  This morning I had coffee with my bestie who is in town for Christmas.  I love how we can pick up right where we left off.  I miss her dearly.  Two thousand miles separate us but for the next 5 days, they are literally a 1/2 mile away!!!

Note:  There is a huge winter storm headed toward to Rockford.  Against my better judgement, I attempted to go to Woodmans today.  Ummmmmmmm....one glance at the completely packed parking lot and I was pulling out the Dukes of Hazard u-turn and headed in the direction of the red bull's eye.  I know, I know....the whole credit card number compromising situation....but IT'S THE BULL'S EYE!!!!!  Why was I shocked that Target was crowded too?  Helloooooooooo Angie!  It's the Saturday before Christmas and the day before the snowstorm.

I managed to remember three things on my forgotten list.  (Sigh.)

After shopping, I returned home to pack up an overnight bag for dog-sitting.  Sooo here it is Saturday night and I am enjoying an evening in front of a beautiful Christmas tree with 2 ridiculous dogs by my side....and we are watching Hallmark and waiting for the snowstorm to arrive!!!

I actually like weekend snowstorms....especially right before Christmas!!!

Hurmph!!!

I'm not handling all the chaos of moving.  Well, I'm handling it but I use the term "handling it" loosely.  There are boxes and boxes and more boxes.  I kinda feel like I'm going wonky and losing my mind in the process...

I keep telling myself, "Angie Good, you will be moved out of the hood in 8 days!!!  You can then unpack and Angie-fy your new place!!!"

The other part of me ~ the relaxed, calm-and-cool about the move me ~ is looking forward to this new adventure.

I am feeling disconnected with Christmas.  I know it's almost here.  I know it because we've been working on the cantata in choir.  I know it because Tiffany said she put out her manger.  I know it because I hear Christmas music at the grocery store.  I know it because I've purchased an ugly sweater for tomorrow night's merriment.  I know it's coming!!!!  I just don't sense it.  Does that even make sense?

Two Christmases ago, my bestie was packing up her home and preparing to trek across the US to relocate in Seattle.  Last year, I was muddling through after sooo very many goodbyes.  And this year...I am just not connecting and it's breaking my Christmas-loving heart.

Tuesday

Last night I had the strangest dream that I was wearing hoseries with holes.  {Think: Swiss cheese}   I am not sure why I was wearing these or if they served a purpose.

As I was waking up and in that fuzzy-am-I-still-sleeping state, I had the beautiful thought ~ Today is Wednesday.   Yeah!!!  Bible study day!!!  After anther minute or maybe two, I realized it was not Wednesday but rather Tuesday.

Tuesdays sure put the damper on not-quite-Wednesdays.  :)

Smitten and other random things... :)

Every year I grow more and more smitten with fall.  Autumn.  The changing of the leaves.  A nip in the air.  Snuggly hooded sweatshirts and all things pumpkin.  Baking.  (Sigh.)  I heart fall.

This afternoon as I waited for my smallish pot of decaf coffee to brew, I said to myself, "Decaf coffee on a rainy, fall-ish Sunday afternoon...this is sooo autumn-ish and sooo me!!!"  Add this to my love of all things fall list.

Church choir begins tonight.  This morning the evangelist talked about the 4 different choir "groups" - bass, tenor, alto and soprano.  He said the altos were smokers before they were saved.  Oh my goodness - talk about crack me up.  It actually reminded me of the funniest phone of my working career.  A couple years ago, a person called me up and ranted and raved about some sewer issues she was having.  {Aren't you envious that you don't work at the sewage treatment plant?}  Anywho....if my memory serves me right, the ranting lasted for several minutes.  When this person took a break (read:  breath!), I asked this person, "Sir, what is your name?"  There was a 0.3 second pause followed by the reply, "Beverly."  GASP!!!!  Beverly?  When this registered (a millisecond later), I said, "Please hold!" and placed Bev on hold until I could regain my composure to return to the call and apologize.  The lesson learned:  never ever, ever use "Sir" or "Ma'am" on the phone until the procurement of the name.

It's rained most of the day and the overcast sky amplifies the blahness (pretty sure that's a word) of the day.  My mug of decaf coffee is warming my hands.  I've been working on four tricky-to-knit dishcloths.  (Read:  basketweave.)  I've only knitted this pattern two or three times max...and now that I have 3.33333 done, I know why!!!  It's an eighteen row pattern that is repeated 4 times.  I've learned that, unlike my favorite patterns, I cannot knit this pattern at work - where I may be interrupted by well-meaning co-workers.  It's not that I don't welcome the "Hello!"....it's just the pattern is tricky and tend to lose track where I am in the row and then I think I'm on another row.  It's not pretty.  I've had to start and restart this several times.

If I'm not a complete basketcase by the time I complete these basketweave dishcloths, I will resume my Christmas knitting project.  Speaking of Christmas...did you know that there are 100 days until Christmas?  I didn't count.  It's just I have one of those desk calendars that tells you numerically what day of the year it is and then there's  a slash with the number of days left in the year.  I happened to glance at my calendar on Friday and I noticed that as of today, there are 107 days left in the year.  Minus the 7 days between Christmas and New Year's and BAM --- Christmas.  It really is just around the corner.  It seemed ridiculous last January to buy yarn for the following Christmas, but now that I have 30 dishcloths ready to go and I only have 15 more to finish, guess who doesn't feel funny now?  This girl!!!!  (* Smiles *)

Happy lazy Sunday!!!

The Angie-version of This Little Piggy

This little piggy went to market (Ulta).
This little piggy stayed home (& made fallish infinity scarves).
This little piggy had roast beef (Chipotle & Red Mango).
This little piggy had none (sad face).
And this little piggy cried, "ANGIE GOOD, HOW COULD YOU BE SOOO CARELESS AND COLLIDE WITH A PAIR OF SHOES LEFT HAPHAZARDLY OUT OF THE SHOE BASKET AND BREAK ME???" ....all the way home.
The end.

3rd thought

Yesterday morning while getting ready for work, I glanced down and noticed a centipede scurrying toward my washing machine.

My 1st thought:  I wonder if that's a centipede or a millipede?

My 2nd thought:  Good grief, if he had to buy shoes for all those feet that would cost a fortune!

My 3rd thought as he scurried under said washing machine:  I should probably kill him.

Why was my 3rd thought the one in which I wanted to take my size 8 shoe and send this centi-/millipede to be with its maker???  Why was that not my 1st thought?  Hmmmm...

After the fact...
My 4th thought, spoken outloud:  "You may reside under the washer.  Do not come out.  Please perish and I will vacuum your remains at a later date."

Randomness

Two things.....
1.  On Saturday night at the conclusion of the baseball game, they played "Eye of the Tiger" and even though it's been years (YEARS!!!) since I have heard this song, I managed to sing along.  As in, I knew the lyrics.  And I must admit, I kinda felt like Rocky....even though I'm pretty sure I have never watched Rocky in its entirety.

2.  I don't always listen to the cute, little voice in my head but I did today when she (You don't seriously think the voice in my head is a boy's voice, right??? I mean it's MY head.  Actually the voice would be awesome if it was Yoda-esque.  It's not.  The voice in my head sounds like me...inside my head.  When I am stressed, my inner Angie dons a sombrero and speaks broken Spanish.  When it's 2 p.m., my inner voice laughs A LOT.  I digress.)....where was I?   Oh yes, the inner voice told me to bring my back-up pair of glasses.  Boy, was I glad I listened, because at circa 1 p.m. something felt amok with my left eye.  When I  removed my contact lens {Insert Jaws theme.}, it looked like Pac-Man with his mouth open.  Yep!  No wonder my eye felt strange.  I removed my right lens also and out on my black-framed glasses.  It's a good thing that I love my nerdy glasses.

Disconbobulated

Have you ever felt completely disconbobulated and not in-sync with people in  your inner circle of friends?   It's happening (or has happened)  to me.  The universe seems amok and I am trapped smack-dab in the center of this disconbobulation.  I am not a fan yet I am choosing to rejoice and be thankful for my disconbobulated state, because it means that I am blessed with fabulous friendships.  Great treasures.  And if spending some time ironing out this conbobulation means that we can have a closer friendship - then iron-away I shall.  :)

It's been awhile.

While I was in The JoAnn Fabrics store this afternoon purchasing pre-punched paper for my 2024 garden journal, I said to myself, "Self,...
